because i've never "maxed" out on deads. i usually do my deads with a set of 5-8 reps. i didn't want to lie and assume i can do 400 lbs one time.

just saw my error. I meant to say squat 375

    Old-ass Motorola Q. I don't upgrade often.

Every workout starts with 2-3 sets of body weight pull-ups as part of my warm up. It helps.

On the days I do back, I do wide-grip weighted pull-ups, close-grip pull-ups, and single arm bent over dumbbell rows specifically for lats.

The lats also get worked a bit during my bicep workout as I incorporate chin-ups.

Typically 3 sets to failure for each of the pull-up/chin-up exercises, with a minimum of 8 reps for each set. If I'm too fatigued to finish at least 8 when weighted, I'll drop the weight and continue. If I'm using only body weight, I'll kick myself to the top position and lower myself slowly for the remaining reps until I hit 8 for that set.

I try to stick to large movement exercises to work as many muscle groups as possible at one time. Pull ups, bench press, squats, and dead lift are the core exercises. From there I'll target areas that I find to be weak or just lacking.

I find too that my body reacts better to the compound exercises like you mentioned. Just never been able to get my lats to "bulge out" like that. I'll try doing more pull ups, maybe get my weight vest out of the drawer and wipe the dust off lol

Worth mentioning that I was a competitive swimmer in a past life. I'm sure the years of training continue to affect my build even though I haven't done it in forever.

I was wondering what was going on in here, so I read the whole thing. There is some good work going on. Some decent workouts as well. Props to you guys for getting it done.

Jokes on them. Weighted dips are the single best way to get bigger arms.

Anyone tried a form of HIT training? Been lifting for a couple years and HIT has given me the best gains I've seen since I started.

HAHA!! I know this look! :p A lot of the people that give me that look when I'm doing weighted dips are the guys that come in and do really crazy shit and yell and wear the designer work out gear and listen to gangsta tunes on wrap around head sets with the volume louder then the gym music! Sometimes I just have to laugh at some of the people that come in...they obviously don't get the concepts of muscle building and working out! And some spend more time texting then they do lifting! I wanna work out with Animal, lol squat till you puke! I love the quotes on his tee shirts.

Uh range of motion much? I mean thats where you get your growth from!!! I can understand negative reps but moving weight an inch is.....like dipping a ball in, it gets you nowhere.

Did you start with form first? Getting good form with that is important. I have 4 weeks worth of a starting point crossfit style workout if you interested Colton. Its all laid out, daily, sets, times, etc.
