Damn, I used to have a 170cm back in the day and I thought that was long!

 

Well, I’ve hit all 3 epic mountains in Tahoe area and a day up at targhee.


Tahoe has been getting HAMMERED recently. At the shore of the lake 15 feet since Jan 1!
All the mountains passed the yearly averages last week

 

Just got back from a trip to Wolf creek with my step son. Saturday was amazing sunny and powder. Sunday was even better because it was snowing and fresh powder everywhere.

 

I hit up Solitude this weekend and got my young children skiing a green run on their own. I thought I’d share a couple of pictures.

The first picture is a shot of my ancient K2s. I've had these for almost 20 years and have skied pretty much every black hill on the Wasatch Front with them. It's probably time for an upgrade though, because I've noticed just how deep I sink into the powder compared to people who, you know, actually have rocker.



Second is a shot of my truck near closing time.

 

Sun broke out yesterday, not too crowded for a holiday. Barely 2-3 inches fresh so it was park laps all day

 

Awesome taking the kids out. Yea, you need some new skis. Those bad boys are from about 2000.

 

Mammoth was unbelievable yesterday. Mountain was buried.

I took my avy 1 class last weekend at Baker. Got home and ordered a new split Monday morning

 

Ikon went on sale . It's good for most of the remainder of this season (on the west coast it'll be a long season) and all of next season.

 

Scored today. Checked in with the demo shop @ Mammoth Mountain to see if they started making deals on this seasons demo's (this is a locals secret to scoring the newest & best gear @ a great deal). Scored a Never Summer Proto Synthesis in like new condition except for a couple cosmetic dings on the top sheet for an amazing deal. This was the exact board i was on the hunt for. Plus they had me leave it until tomorrow for a free tune and wax. I usually handle that myself but who am I to turn down a free tune? Can not wait to take it on the mountain tomorrow.

 

Taking the kids up to winter park g lot for some lot scene winter camping. 9 and 11 is old enough for lot scene right? Lol

That 9 year old has telemarked Corbets, Gear Jammer and Aspen highland bowls. In one season!

 

How do you like the split? I'm begging wife to get one. So tired of waiting on her with those snow shoes. Then half the time I get to ski down with them.

 

It's great man, just gotta get used to the switch over..

Splitboard bindings took a big leap forward a few years back when they got away from those big pins that go through the middle. Most everything nowadays is a retainer/clamp style and it's much better when your fingers are frozen

 

I typically stick to my back back snacks. But today its so fucking windy, that the wind blew my ass right into the losge to get a burger..

Got the kid set up for her first day this week. Hopefully it won't be raining
