I put a set of DEPO brand Pro style tinted headlights in my 3rd gen (reasonable $435). Had to cut the LED DRL strip wiring from stock headlight assembly and splice into the DEPO's. They looked amazing and were an exact replica. Then around 2.5 years later the tint, on the inside of the lens, started delaminating. Get what you pay for. That outer end screw, that is somewhat of a pain on 2nd gens, is only accessible by dropping the bumper cover on 3rd gens.

I'm considering cutting out the OEM storage boxes to maximize room down there (access to the passenger side under the fridge would be difficult otherwise). Planning on making it tall enough that my Jackery 500 can fit below it, which should still leave me with plenty of room to open the fridge.

Subaru tweeter upgrade. Also realized one of my door speakers was blown while I had everything off. Bought some new Rockford Fosgate Punches last night to replace my primes! And yes I know it’s upside down. Just lazy and didn’t want to cut the factory take on wire harness to extent it to clip in on top.

    Just some stuff...
Are the Subaru tweeters really that much better? Wouldn’t a name brand after market be better? Or is there some kind of cost savings?

I think they are head and shoulders better than the paper magnets. Rage is better. No cost savings its one of those to each his own type of things

They are really nice Kicker tweeters for a good price. that is why a lot of people do this.

I just did the ultimate headlight upgrade just before the weekend, it's a game changer- night and day difference. Can't recommend enough.

The retro-fit use factory harness and bulb. Maybe that’s where my success lies.

1st thing I installed in last 3 Tacomas along with 6 x 9 door Kickers. Best bang for the buck. They make stock hu sound better but really come to life with a better hu. The tweeters can be price matched if you find them on line. Print the ad price and take it to your local Subaru parts dept.

Well the fucking truck wouldn’t start. Neighbor came over with his snap-on scanner and it gave a P1604 code. Which could mean absolutely anything.
    :annoyed:

And the cat wasn’t much help diagnosing the issue either.

start by checking the battery. Manufacture date, resting voltage, voltage under load while attempting to start

see if you can start it with a nocoboost

I get such a kick out of all the people who like to bash California because they actually DO SOMETHING to protect the environment; you know, the AIR WE BREATHE!

    WAY_BACK_MACHINE_ON

Yes, way back in the times when the Neanderthals of the automotive companies had total and complete control of what was done by the manufacturing of combustion engine vehicles, California took a stand and said, "ENOUGH!"

This, because you could not see the mountains that were less than a mile away from your home/office/airport/whatever because the air pollution was so thick it was impossible to see through it.

The result was SMOG controls on combustion engines of a certain displacement. The rest of the US of A continued on, polluting their way to increased health care costs, yada, yada, yada! And then "one fine day", someone in Washington DC finally realized that the Europeans were reacting much like California because all the trees and lakes in their countries were dying; just like the forests and lakes on the north east coast states of the US of A (think 1970's here and acid rain). And, what do know, now all combustion engines manufactured in vehicles for sale in the US of A have a little statement on them that they meet California Emissions Requirements.

    Who'd a thunk?

    WAY_BACK_MACHINE_OFF

    RANT_MODE_ON

But, not being happy about this, the general population in the US of A continues on doing everything they can to destroy what engineers have spent hours and untold amounts of cash trying to combat - SMOG. In Europe they are much more enlightened and have very stringent annual inspections of all vehicles on the road. Too bad people in the US of A are not bright/smart enough to care.

Those of you who defeat the emissions controls of your vehicles please STOP! You are quite literally causing health problems for everyone who comes in contact with emissions from your vehicles.

    RANT_MODE_OFF

    Have a nice day :)
