    FINALLY off the island!

I added mine(different brand) to my existing State Farm coverage. The agent had me send a copy of the purchase receipt to his office. I believe they just added it to the value of the truck as my premium increased a little.

The way I did it is I called my insurance (geico) and itemized all my mods. My concern is truck gets stolen.
I don't recall the exact number but now the truck is insured for an additional like 20k in value. Was a tiny uptick to my premium.

I have USAA and I was basically trying to throw my money at them to pay for additional coverage. They kept saying it’s covered since it’s bolted onto the truck. I explained to them it’s a roughly 13k camper shell with a pop top and all that.

    Tent Damage
I recently returned to michigan from Utah and opened my x1 to find that the struts wore through the tent material! They wore holes at the bottom of the tent when it was closed. It was the top of the strut where it attaches to the roof and when closed it contacted the tent. I’ve had the x1 since February. The mattress is always very deflated. Like vacuum seal deflated with no bedding up top. The tent is very carefully tucked in but even so it’s where the strut lays and it wore through to the aluminum. Both sides. I’ve reached out to SP and I’m waiting to see what they think. Anyone else have this issue?

I noticed a little wear in those spots. Nothing like yours. I did use a rubber mallet and centered the struts on the strut mounts. Not sure if that helped though

Kind of unfortunate I’m not the only one. I’ll let everyone know what SP says when they get back with me.

I showed them pictures of wear marks on mine and they told me to buy this:

EDIT: sp recommends the “type b” version

Yeah I was gonna go with Tenacious Tape made by Gear Aid if it got really bad.

Good to do a "pre wear" preventative addition with that vs waiting??

Yea that’s it. I bought it and never put it on. I just try pull the material tight towards the center when closing the top and haven’t noticed it getting worse. I’ve been meaning to put it on one of these days.

Same.. changed up the bedding some and just been more diligent when closing.. and heavily karate chopping the center when closing to keep it pulled away like you said.

I’m really not going to be happy if that’s their solution. Just supposed to be putting layers of tape on as it wears through?? For $12k??

No kidding. I don't own a SP but this is not a solution if this starts happening to more owners.

Curious what you guys think would be an acceptable solution here.

That is what I did as well, added Tear Aid and called it a day. Im fine with this solution it should do the job and if it needs replacing it is do-able. ive used tear aid a bunch of times and love the stuff. I wouldnt expect a new tent or anything like that.

Tried my insurance again (Progressive), and they still won't insure the X1. Said it won't be covered as an RV/Camper because there is no permanent kitchen... And it doesn't fall under any other of their categories. While frustrating, I appreciate they told me before selling me the RV/Camper policy.

They suggested to call local insurance brokers as maybe they could insure it through another company, or write a policy for the X1. I'll see if I have any luck with that.

Looks like there is a vinyl version (pictured) and a fabric version. What do you think?

What about as a standard bed cap? Expensive, but, essentially it is "just a cap".
