so ive found the latest shitty game dealers are playing... take a look for "used" 2023 Supras. it seems they are selling them and immediately buying them back so they can add a huge mark up but not get accused of price adjustments on "new" cars.

I should start compiling of list of these deals for the 'do not buy from list'

I sent a message to corporate.. we'll see if they respond.

Considering the damage one of my A arms kids is taken... I'm glad the skid took it and not the A arm.

Smoke your dif on a rock, bend the seal surface and start leaking oil out on the trail... You'll be walking home.

Speaking of useless mods.... (I have 2 sets of seat jackers) :D

    See above.

*Shrugs. I'm not familiar enough with second third gen LCA issues to say with confidence that there isn't a need but I felt pretty confident taking the ones off my truck after talking to friends that wheel second gen stuff more than I have.

The rear diff issue you speak of is just a non-issue. Guys have been wheeling Toyota axles for decades with no need for a skid to protect any kind of seal surface until RCI created a need to sell product to late model vehicle owners.

I could see both sides of the argument. I'll just add that my build is biased towards Bro-verlanding and not harcore wheeling/rock busting. Also its a daily driver so I tend to be cautious since I need it to get home. I have zero use for those skids with my current driving needs and style, and since I only ever plan to go to 33's I don't forsee that will change. LCAs are pretty beefy as it is so I don't lose sleep over it.

On one hand, yes. In a perfect world where I'm rich they'd be much larger. I'd also have a harem of super models and a footlong...driveshaft.

On the other hand, since it's my current daily and I like MPGs the 33's are all she wrote. I still need to do the pay-off-the-bank mod first too. Maybe someday.

PS - shut up and put your own 35's on and sell me your tires ya turkey! :D

I’ve spent a time considering a-arm and diff skids since the trip to tigerton (two, actually, went with sister’s family too). I dragged the diff across some rocks, and I also dropped it straight down on the LCA mount (frame tabs) when I slipped off a rock in the submerged rock garden.

I had kinda gathered most of us there didnt think much about the need for a diff skid, since everybody yelled “it's just the diff” a lot at tigerton . Regardless, mine had some gouges. Maybe it’s strong enough not to worry. A sacrificial sheet to protect it from abrasion might be a good idea, maybe, but I don't like the mounting options that use the third member bolts.

The LCA mount on the frame though seems a little vulnerable. It’s hard steel, but I could see it deflecting if it got hit carrying any speed. Ironically, most LCA skid options dont protect the frame mounts, at all. Nor do almost almost all front/mid skids (4x innovations being the exception on the 4runners). I find this a dumb oversight, since LCAs are swappable parts (if you could even really damage it from it falling on something. The mounting tabs, however, are really what seem important to protect.

    Anybody else have thoughts?

Maybe something like this to reinforce your LCA pivots https://www.marlincrawler.com/axles/frame/hd-lca-frame-brace-2010-4runner

I've been considering getting a the Tacoma version

I personally don’t really care about the lcas, but the rear diff I would probably get a cover for if you are going out regularly as the drain plug will become a huge pain to remove after a few good scrapes.

The 10mm Allen drain plug TG sells works well instead of the stock drain plug. Also pretty common to shave the drain plug and protector ring off, then just weld in a patch plate for additional clearance and less risk of a rock loosening the plug on a crawler

Don't think there are lca "issues" so to speak.... They're pretty damn strong. To each their own.

RCI ain't the only ones with diff skids.... And I'll take the insurance. :D

Agreed. Also the cam tabs on tacos are fairly weak. I have broken ones on the passenger side of both trucks (previous owner did it to the silver one, and I didn't see it before I bought it..... ) :frusty:

Bumper has provisions for a 20" light bar (test fitted) right above the winch. Wiring has already been installed and tested. I ain't f&ckin' around! (That's why this crap gets so damned expensive!)
