My 2010 Tacoma 4X4 has 268000 miles on the 2.7. #3 cylinder is losing compression. Do I buy a new block or pull the original and rebuild it? Thanks for any help.

You need to figure out what caused the low compression. Could be a valve not shutting, could be pistons etc.

Have you priced a low milage 2.7 at the bone yard? If price is good, this would save time and money. Not sure if the manifolds are different on a 2.7 like they are with the 4.0 with newer engines 13-22

If it ends up needing a rebuild, I'd buy a short block... rebuilt a chevy v6 last year and was amazed how hard it is to find quality engine machine shops these days. Short block would have been waay cheaper.

As already stated you need to first determine the cause of the compression loss. More often than not it’s a damaged valve seal or bad valve. Diagnose the problem and then proceed.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
How many miles on the plugs and have you ever replaced the valve cover and spark plug tube gaskets?

What’s your point? Neither of them see compression pressure. He’s not complaining about a misfire
