Best All Terrain Once and for All

This one is missing tires. The new Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT looks like it could be a contender, but they're still pretty new to the market.

Plus, for every 10 people that love KO2's, there's 1 that thinks they're garbage.

The Cooper AT3 4S would be a better choice for casual off-road than the Rugged Trek, or the STT MAX.

As someone previously said, all of these tires will do the job. But "What is the Job"? I think this is very dependent on where you live and what terrain and weather you experience.
For me in South Texas, a good AT tire is one I can get around a ranch in wet/muddy conditions without having to put it in 4 Wheel drive. We dont have rocks to crawl over, and we dont have snow/ice. And no tire, no load range is puncture resistant in South Texas, everything has huge thorns.
My Tacoma has only seen snow 1 time and it did fine in 2 wheel drive in 6 inches of snow(I was running ST Maxx) and only needed to put it in 4 wheel drive on hills or where it was icy.
What also makes a great AT tire is how quiet it is on the road, the hum of Duratracs drove me absolutely nuts.
Another factor to consider is availability. Is it a common tire brand in a common size...i.e. does your local Discount Tire keep it in stock at all times? Twice in my life I have used the road hazard warranty (1 blowout,1 irreparable flat), I pulled in, they had the tire in stock, got it installed and was on my way.
Duarability/Wear - I hear lots of good things about Ridge Grapplers and every single employee at my local Discount Tire has them on their truck....but I have heard they are very soft and do not last as long as other tires.

I have owned BFG, Duratracs, General Grabber, and ST Maxx. St Maxxx were my favorites. But as I am due for a new set, I think I am going to try the Wildpeaks in SL, everyone raves how quiet they are, SL rating should gain me some mileage and improve the ride and they are slightly cheaper. + they look great.

 

There's no universal truth for "best" of the do-it-all AT tires. Same story for hiking shoes... two people might have identical shoes/sizes and wear them in the same way but experience their benefits/drawbacks completely differently. For tires, I'm running Toyo Open Country A/T IIIs in E-rated 285/70/17, and I love them, but someone with the exact same truck/setup out west might feel differently due to countless variables (driving style, climate, personal preference re: noise, grip, traction limits). Best thing you can do is try to get seat time in a similarly set-up truck with the tires you're looking for, but if that's not an option, it might be a just taking the leap and seeing how you like what you end up with. Can always sell them and jump to another set should it come to that.

Where do you live, what weather conditions are you in when driving, how much do you drive on pavement, where do you like to drive off-road, what does your local tire shop recommend (the best feedback IMO).

But yeah, with E range tires the standard 30psi is way too much. They chalk test at 18-20 iirc. I know it makes people uncomfortable but there's not a lot of sidewall flex happening on a light truck at that range lol. I was at 6psi in those photos.

Didn't vote in the poll because I've only had one set of the tires listed above. Currently running the Falken Wildpeaks. For the type of driving I do (never taken it off road) they have worked really well. Surprisingly quiet on the pavement and they seem to work exceptionally well in the snow and are very grippy in the rain. I've rotated about every 5000-7000 miles and they seem to wear evenly, BUT I also don't think I'll get 55,000 out of them (some consumer sites claim that I should get 70,000!), but who knows

I also have Wildpeaks. I do go offroad and they do great both on trails and in snow. No way am I getting even close to 55k miles though. I'm disappointed by the wear.
