Li-Ion batteries are recycled and roughly 95%+ is recovered and re-used (source) in future batteries. It's like aluminum, extremely recyclable and reusable which is pretty neat.

Child labor and slave labor are huge issues that morally would need to be solved but Capitalism will keep that from happening. Just like we just found child labor in Alabama in 2022 for Hyundai manufacturing, I don't see how that will ever get solved for EVs or any 3rd world countries since most people would rather pay less than care.. Apple, Nike, Hershey, Mars, Nestle all use slave/child labor and or sweatshops and nobody cares.. AFAIK Toyota was linked to some human trafficking back in the late 2000s for producing cars/parts, and IDK about the Big 3 in the U.S. Wouldn't surprise me if there's something there since they get things overseas and build them here.

At this point, unless it's a locally created/assembled product I don't think there's a way to guarantee ethical standards of a product.

That differs from what I read (which is that they are basically completely un-reusable/recyclable). I like your numbers better...I hope that's right. I'll still pass on the electric car, but I hope it's not totally "destination landfill" for the remnants of those that do have/get one.

Lithium battery fires are legit terrifying and no joke, it takes approximately 40X the amount of water to put out an EV fire over a ICE fire. The data suggests that they catch fire much less often though not a lot of sources have researched it and since we have more EVs coming soon we'll have more data. But it makes sense when you compare gasoline to a battery, which is more susceptible to a spark?

Here's a great video explaining Lithium battery recycling and how they filter out all the individual metals for reuse if you're curious. Everyone is throwing money at batteries right now to increase capacity without weight, increase charging speed without heat and how to recycle/reuse 100% of the battery because whoever figures out the best of those = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Just imagine if some company figures out a battery that can go 1000 miles and recharge fully in 2 hours... $$$$ from every car company in the world.

Different sources require different means of suppression, whether it’s a forest fire, grease fire, electrical fire, whatever. Competition vehicles require it already, eventually passenger vehicles will as well. Storing energy (whether as fuel or electrical potential) generally means there’s some risk of catastrophic release. We get better at managing that risk but energy density will keep going up so the risk probably won’t go away. You won’t be dying of monoxide poisoning sitting in your Tesla in the garage all night though so there’s that.

I don't think there's a better way to distinguish a lithium fire besides letting it burn out or tons and tons of water. It'll be interesting to see if they invent something that can put it out safely/quickly compared to just a lot of water. Like all the strides they've made in fire retardant materials for racing suits, cars, etc. I love tech like that.

Worth it? Hard to say. The cost of doing it yourself makes everything worth it financially. I’m in and out of that tool box a lot at night so probably so on that front too.

convoluted story on why I did both. I started with the bed mount only. I had some issue with the lights and thought the strips might be bad so I had Matt send me upper lights only. Turned out it was my main power to the back so I re-strung the source power.

All run off one toggle and yes it’s the dual. No issues at all now and it’s a good amount of light. When you get older (46), Ul need all the light you can get.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
So, if you hear a thunk under your dash you might want to take a peek and make sure it’s not a shoe attached to a leg but that’s a 3rd Gen problem

Mine did that about 4 years ago. I just went to Napa and got their cheap one. Been holding great so far. If you get the one from Napa make sure you get both pieces, mid-pipe and muffler. They forgot my mid-pip and I had to go back once they got it in.

Ooof, that 409 stainless will only stand up for so long. Mine split at the seam recently. I replaced it with a Borla ProXS muffler and a no-name Amazon SS resonator for relatively cheap. That said, I teach people how to fabricate and weld exhaust so I had the materials and experience to make it inexpensively. It sounds alright with my cowl snorkel mod and I'm sure I'm kidding myself but it feels like I freed up a couple of ponies in the mid-upper range of the power band.

Called up the dealer local to me and they priced a new trd catback with gasket/ spring bolt kit at $620. But the bullet and ordered it. Wish I could weld stainless, only have a cheap mig setup

    Hmmmmm.

I am really trying to understand the reason for the anger.

    We are The U. S.

That is our name; The United States.

Perhaps a little history is in order here:

"The real meaning of the United States of America means that the United States of the continent of America meaning that the United States belong, found and located on the American Continent. Not that the United States is AMERICA because the whole entire continent was named AMERICA 269 years way before the United States of America became a nation or even existed."

NOTE: The above paragraph is quoted, meaning that these are not my words but words from a definition of America that is intended to clarify a huge misconception that many people who live in the United States have; the emphasis (BOLD) is also part of the quote, not mine.

Given that the majority of our politicians seem to be unaware of this minor historical fact when they address the vast majority of the Western Hemisphere when they preface their remarks with, "My fellow Americans." It would appear that they have no more idea about what America is or is not than a whole lot of other folks.

And ya, I know. It's only words. But, words are all we have and if we do not use them correctly there can be no communication.

So, back to the definition of America. You know, like North America, Central America and South America.

Canada and Mexico are part of America too. As are the countries through which the Panama Canal passes and all those in the other America, south of them there countries, South America.

I'm not looking to start a war here. All I have asked is for people to not disable/modify/destroy the emission systems on their vehicles so that we all can have clean air to breath. If this is not seen as a common sense request there is nothing more I can do.

I hate to tell you this but many would claim this qualifies you as being unamerican but to your point I’ve no idea whether to capitalize the “u”, the “a”, or neither.
