Any ideas where I might find one of these glove box bulb covers for my 2003 Tacoma? I noticed the bulb is out, and when I went to change it, this cover was missing...

I didn't see it listed in the parts diagram or list on a Toyota parts site...I plan to hit the wrecking yards in the area on Saturday.

Fine...problem is, 1st gen Tacomas are rarer than hen's teeth in wrecking yards. The good news? Plenty of wrecking yards to try!

The glovebox bulb is on any time the dash lights are on. No switch — just a glovebox door thst closes with a design that blocks any light from showing outward.

So the bulbs burn out and subsequent Gen 1 owners don’t realize there ever was a light in there.

It’s a perfect location for a LED equivalent. I have a red-amber LED in my 2003’s glovebox and I’m quite happy with it.

No luck at the local wrecking yards yesterday. vehicles were picked clean. I did, however, find that subassembly cover from another Ebay seller for half the cost of the above link from @JasonLee, so I ordered that. I did try an LED bulb in the socket, and it's much better than the Sylvania bulb.

Bit pricey for an obscure interior piece, but I think it's this: 81260-33010 (light), 90981-11018 (bulb looks generic for lots of things)

Nice! Glad you found one at a more reasonable price. The glove box light was super nice to have after I replaced the bulb.

For those of us not fortunate enough to have a glove compartment light, I bought a push button led light afixed with Velcro to the side of my box. Velcro so I can remove it to replace the batteries.

That is the part, thank you. Like you said, pricey. One Ebay seller had it for $12.73 + $36.00 shipping...not.

I found the entire glove box insert piece with that light included on Ebay and ordered that.

@4xdog where can you find these? I did some searching and can't find anything that small.

I think this is the one I chose. (I’m not home now to confirm.). But there are lots to choose from — pick one that appeals to you.
    https://www.superbrightleds.com/74-led-bulb-1-smd-led-miniature-wedge-base

Note that one almost always inserts a LED with the wrong polarity. Sort of like how the bread always falls buttered-side down. Don’t clip the grille pack in place until you’ve double checked the light comes on OK.
