I need to see how my sunglasses fit in the helmet and maybe just ride using sunglasses and a clear shield. I have dropped every helmet I've owned and scratched the visors so doing that to a $200+ visor would be painful.

I currently have a Bell Qualifier DLX that came with a transition shield and I can't even force my sunglasses into the helmet. If the transition thing stops working I might just have to upgrade helmets at that point.

I have Transition lenses in my glasses. Saves the trouble of dark and light shields. the older Transition formulas didn't work all that great if the visor or your windshield have any UV blockers in them at all. This newest formula I got last year works really well even with my visor closed or in the truck. My eye doctor has told me the formula really only lasts about 2-3 years under normal use and as it ages it takes longer to change, doesn't get as dark, and takes longer to lighten back up when you enter a room so a $200+ visor just isn't a good investment yet to me.

That's a good point it's bound to get scratched. But I definitely see the benefit of having one, might have sprung for it had I not been buying all new gear at the same time.

Bell makes nice helmets too, I had an older Star model years back that I liked.

I do like my Bell helmet, I paid $250 for it and it came with the Transition visor, but it doesn't support Pinlock so it's a little tedious to deal with in rain.

The replacement visor is also $140 so at that point I'd probably just buy another helmet.

Pinlock is nice but not always what it's cracked up to be. I have it on my Shoei and Schuberth helmets. One thing I dislike is the decreased amount of light that comes through after night fall. I helps with my visor fogging up on cold days but even at that it seems like the insert only lasts me one or two seasons before it doesn't seal as well resulting in little fogged pockets on spots of my shield. So far this year I haven't even put the Pinlock insert in.

Does the seal fail even after rotating the pinlock posts? That's supposed to tighten the pinlock up so that you get a better seal, that said I have always just put it in as it was and not had a problem. My first helmet is finishing out it's second season now and I never had an issue. It does seem to attract some dust but nothing a quick wipe doesn't take care of.

The only thing that annoys me about it sometimes is if I'm riding through heavy traffic, taillight reflections double up from the double wall created by the visor and pinlock, and it will show me more tail lights than are on the road, but it's minimal and I haven't noticed much issue with it.

I'm on my third season with my current insert, still works decently. My biggest issue though is my visor may not fog, but my glasses do

SKDA makes some cool looking kits! Last year Jerry Robin was switching up his bike for each supercross race with a different scheme that was a tribute to the city they were in.

I think mine might be on it's 5th season so maybe it's just worn out. What I don't like is the added reflections and sort of prismatic effect riding at night or early morning hours when folks have their lights on. Seems to be amplified if it's raining. I ride near year-round and do long distance rallies so my needs might be a little more than the average so maybe my expectations are higher?

Changed the air filter on my bike today. I should have known it would be a pain in the ass when it wasn't addressed in the owner's manual at all. Turns out that I have to remove two screws so the tank will pivot up, then 12 screws to remove the airbox cover under where the tank sits, including moving the ECU out of the way, just to get to the damn thing.

    Thanks, Triumph.
