I hate to tell you this but many would claim this qualifies you as being unamerican but to your point I’ve no idea whether to capitalize the “u”, the “a”, or neither.

Well I had a good and bad day I guess… I took the old 05 baby for a wash and cleaned her up good. Then I got on the highway and noticed she may be revving high. Its a 6 speed and when I’m doing 70 mph, I’m around 3,000 RPM. When I let off the gas and both the clutch is in and I’m not in any gear the RPMs hang around 2,000. Shouldn’t, they drop to 780ish? When I’m costing at low speeds the RPMs stay around 1500 then drop to 780 when I come to a complete stop. Is this acting right? I have an aftermarket exhaust and sometimes when it hangs I can hear the throatyness of it around 2000 RPMs or 1500 and then idle near 780 and it goes away. Sometimes it will say 1500 RPM and it will sound like 780. What could be going on?

Installed a new driver side rear window cause some A-Hole broke into my truck and 30 others in the “secure” parking lot at the airport. Never ever ever park at Midway in Chicago…. even in the garage… that said, the price of the parking that they comped me for was less than the window, nothing was stolen, and I kinda enjoyed working on my truck  …. But it’s still was very disheartening and provokes a lot of disgust in mankind! Next time I’ll set a couple Bear traps on the rear seat for if they decided to crawl in again…

After a couple 2, 3 beers and catching up tonight, I was starting to think maybe going to buy a 16-year-olds 6.0 would be safer than hanging around this thread...

They love spouting off how 3rd gen is the best taco ever made because it’s the only one they’ve ever owned. And yet they know nothing of this show for seasons 1-6

That’s a bummer man. Had the same thing happen to me in my powerstroke. Broke the drivers side rear window and the passenger window. Swear they purposely ground the broken glass into my leather seats. Didn’t steal anything but completely wrecked the inside of my truck and my seats. Assuming they broke the second window just to be dicks. Wasn’t home at the time. Cops could care less. Literally told me they don’t investigate property crimes or theft but I was welcome to take a number and fill out a report…. Pass.

Same happened to me in Western Washington… Only difference was when I called the Police to report it, I was directed to an automated reporting system for petty theft and crime. I never talked to an actual person and never heard back.

Trust me when I say the 3rd gen, at least the one I owned, was certainly not the best gen ever. I frequently look at this old picture and wonder why I sold the red one with under 60k miles and kept the new blue one with 100 miles.old and new too.jpg

Been there done that, Had an 05 king ranch with 160K. Within less than a week of buying it I popped a head gasket. Pulled it apart, new gasket, ARP studs, did a KC turbos billet wheel and some other random things. Drove it about 3K miles and the oil cooler clogged up. so again I was having to tear into it. After that I put another 3 to 4k miles on it and one of the heads cracked between an injector and the water jacket. Now it was pumping fuel into the coolant. I let it sit for a couple of months and A buddy from college traded me even for his 2010 DCSB TRD OR with 289K miles.
I have never been happier with a truck. Can't pull anything like I used to but I don't think I will ever be without a Tacoma again.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I looked into trading my truck for a 6.4 f350... I was hesitant going into it, but it would've been a deal I couldn't pass up. The CEL turned on about a mile into the test drive... Needless to say I ran from that. Couple weeks after that I almost bought a mint 7.3 f350 but they wanted almost 30k for the truck and wouldn't back down on the price. So here am I still with ol reliable.

A 6.4 is a hand grenade. Its not a mater of if but when they blow lol. You dodged a bullet there.

Hence why I was hesitant but it was in immaculate condition so I was willing to gamble. However the CEL was more than enough for me to tuck tail and run.

Got quoted almost two grand by rack attack a while back to install 4 crossbars on my Taco so I decided to go the DIY route. $350 later I have a nice little rack for my camper shell out of mostly used parts!!

Found a guy selling roof tracks that were longer than my shell so I cut them to size. Got the crossbars and bases for cheap then bought some thule tracker feet to attach to the tracks. I’ve had the ski rack for a while and got the basket from a friend for free. Eventually I’ll do something similar for the cab :)

OUCH! I had a similar experience with a shop around me but not that expensive. I just bought Yakima tracks and installed them myself for less then half of what they quoted me. And I also had them replace the weather strip on my topper and they did a horrible job on it. Half the rivets aren't even seated properly.

dang! I think it’s definitely worth it to just DIY it all to make sure it’s done right. Plus it’s a lot cheaper haha! That’s annoying though about the rivets. Did they do anything to make it right?

I didn't go back to check. It wasn't a great experience. Took them a day longer then they estimated which is crazy itself. They also used self tapping screws when they put on the rack I thought would be good but it was the cheapest thing locally. So now I have just left the old tracks on the roof because I didn't want to seal the holes from it. Waste of money but then again anything I don't do myself usually is.
I have a rivet gun at home so I have been waiting for them to come out of the weather stripping to replace them. I did 2 already and the rest seem to be holding for now. If I knew how easy it was I would have just ordered it and done it myself the first time. Toppers are surprisingly easy to work on. I was intimidated at first but then I realized it is just fiberglass and can be fixed easy if you fuck it up.
