You guys might not like it, but this is what peak offroading looks like

I'm looking forward to the 2nd gen taco. I haven't built a toyota yet

I had one of those too... '82, but same difference.

Or wait, '88 was the YJ, wasn't it? Had one of those as well

You will fit in nicely over here in the 2nd Gen forum.
You aren’t afraid to deviate from the original subject.
One thing you’ll find out, we don’t stay on topic long:thumbsup:

You definitely had some nice rigs.:fistbump:

I was always poor and wanted to go 4 wheeling. All those old rigs I had were CHEAP to buy and build. Shame that's not the case anymore. My '79 Ford I bought with a built motor already on 35's, with the warn hubs for $2500. You can't find a '79 ford in running condition around here now for less than $10k. :(

Yes, 1988 YJ. That’s one thing you’ll notice is the work required to do 35s or 37s properly with the Tacoma.

Yep. That's why I'm making the tacoma a trail runner on 33s. I'll let the IFS be the limitation on where I want to abuse the truck. Give me a front D44 with chromolly shafts and we'll maybe take a few risks. I'm old and boring now, and we just go out in the desert and camp and look for rocks.

Yeah 33s are easy to do, and you can go quite a few places, sounds like you know the trails and areas you want to hit.
I’d like to check off the BDR routes at some point, good excuse for some camping

I’ve got a 2” lift and skinny 33’s but they are toyos and measure big. 33.4x10.4. A couple rubs over the years when I don’t see something coming or have a big fat friend in the passenger seat and completely articulate it.

Where were you a couple years ago? Had a 76 f100 w/ a refreshed and mildly built 390, 4spd with warn hubs on 33’s and we couldnt get rid of the thing to save my life. Started at 4K and ended on 600$. Whole truck and frame was Cancer free except for a golfball size spot on the cab corner.
Another buddy had a built 76 highboy 250 on 37’s that was cherry. He sold his same time we sold ours. He got 1200. Times change.

Also sold 2 internationals shortly after.
    74 4x4 4spd v8 with warns on 33” pizza cutters. 500$
    72 4x4 auto with warns built v8. 800$

there is something to be said about installing a modern CarPlay capable headunit, its amazing how old the insides of these Tacoma feel. but adding a modern deck really adds those modern conveniences

Haha for sure, my buddy with the gladiator did minimal work and runs 37s, sure he might start on fire randomly but it looks good till then

We had some major flooding last year, a lot of washouts that Tacomas cannot make without ripping off the POS rear bumper.:)

I’ll be getting a steel one in near future.
