Remember that truck I made the stacks for? Rusty sent me pictures of it after he finished it.

    TLDR; yes

I’m not sure what version of my back wall project you’re referring to. After I pulled everything out I made a plywood cover to screw in place of the plastic trim. I used 1/4” hardwood ply and it was pretty loud. I cut some egg crate foam and put behind it but it really didn’t help much. I think the plywood didn’t have enough mass to help block the sound. So I ended up putting the factory plastic back in with the egg crate against the wall and the factory sound mat in place. Putting egg crate over the pressure vents is key, that seems to be where most of the noise comes from. With everything back in place, the road noise is still there but very muffled, no open window effect. I can listen to the radio on 25 where before I was on 35 to clearly hear an audiobook. My wife has commented the truck is much quieter than it was so that’s the real endorsement.

I still want to put sound deadening in the doors and over the entire floor but I’m happy with it now.

Many seem to feel a pool noodle between the cab and bed makes a big difference, I'm going to try it (some day..).
The amount of noise from the back is stunning, I have had quieter $100 vehicles...

Just cause you can draw it, doesn’t mean you can make it. .06” radius with a 9° angle, 58.25” long o_O

I guess I could grind a tool with that on it but, by hand with a flap wheel it will be :D

My ears are quite attuned to noises but I have never noticed any major road noise. My exhaust might be covering over some of that, though. As far as the radio, it's perfectly audible at 10 but is usually at 15 when I'm alone. 25 for a particularly good song. :D

I have to cut mine up to about 26-30 if I want to hear it. My hearing is awful. My biggest outside noise is the stock Good Years. They have too much tread left to take them off but I won't miss them.

100% right, it's just to break the edge and it's for a packaging company so it's not really that important, just so it doesn't tear something.

That packaging company has some pretty strict rules you have to follow when you go there. I was in there once and after signing in at the front desk the guy I needed to see came and got me. We're walking across the huge building and his phone rings. He says excuse me, says hello, okay, I'll tell him. He hangs up, looks at me and says "spit your gum out"

I'm pretty sure he took it from me with his bare hand, it's been a while since that happened.

Another time I went to a bread place to look at something, the night before I shaved my head, clean. They made me put a hair net on under my hat

I’ve heard several people make that recommendation, but I’m hesitant to try it. I’m afraid it would collect leaves and other debris and would hold water, potentially cause a rust issue where it abrades the paint on the cab.

It was one of the first things I noticed about the truck, I kept trying to roll up the back widows and opened the rear slider to make sure the weatherstripping was in place. Sounds like a rear window is down about an inch to me :notsure: After my work it’s more of just a tire road noise sound now.

I have a pretty good hearing loss from my military time so I’m not surprised my radio settings are that high. I can listen to songs at about 20 to just have background noise but to clearly hear words I need to be at 25 minimum.

Oh, I should say my back seats are folded down 95% of the time for the dog so that will factor into the sound level.
