I was thinking about just using a Dakota digital universal cluster like their HDX2200 or something like that but haven’t decided

You have 11 gear teeth on the drive pinion and not 10? (Ring gear should be 43 regardless)

In my head all of the OR and Pros (and manual Sports) have 4.30 lol.

Edit: I'm thinking of the 8.8 vs 8.0 rear. :jpow:

Was there ever a consideration to change the rear differential gears and seeing if that got you most of the way before embarking on that complete renovation?

Based off what he’s built, and capable of building. I’m gonna go with he knew it wouldn’t be enough.

This man wanted a powerful platform, in the most stock form - with much more room to grow with just bolt ons IF it was ever desired. I think at that point tho it would be more ideal in a different car tho

    Truly a sweet build

Have to say I am impressed. The third gen trucks are so new I haven't seen any engine swap threads yet, and you did such an impressive job on the fit and finish.

Could you elaborate on how you tied in the electrical systems? I assume you kept the GM ECU, and tied it in with the Tacoma body harness and system.

So far this has been working perfectly for me without any issues.
    20221113_164512.jpg

The spacers I'm using are these guys, a bag of 50 was 10 bucks from Amazon. M4 hardware is a perfect fit. Ideally these should be made of a mild Aluminum..

One thing I like to mention from my observations with "tuning" the Leginfelter Controller to the right temperature Start Point and End Point settings is I have my End Point setting at 345°, as opposed or recommended from the OP which is much lower. Anything lower on the End Point will over cool the coolant system, especially in the mornings. Im barely reaching and staying stable at 185°.

took about two months of couple hours here in there in the evenings and weekends, I have 4 kids so I don’t really have a lot of spare time.

yes but I decided to take the opposite approach, i watch numerous videos of guys who changed gears and it seemed on the interstate your in 6th gear but still no power to accelerate up a hill or to pass a car without downshifting and revving high, on the interstate I cruise in 8th gear and if I need to pass a car or go up a hill I barely throttle and it gets up and goes without downshifting, that was my end goal

I do a lot of interstate driving for work and when I travel, I wanted a Tacoma that was more enjoyable on the open road not just putting around town, if that makes any sense
