We like it, very compact in our garage compared to the 2nd gen double cab. GFC is for a 5' bed

yeah haha i want some forward lights as I don't really have any. My ditch lights are sorta but would like those to be angled out a bit more so something to fill the front void would be nice.

    But...not for 1k haha

    Really? a 3rd gen 4runner? Why's that?

tell me more about this kit...

That's fair. I've not spend much time in them. But figured the size would be nice. Plus can get a 4th gen with a v8 which is fun.

I bet! Puppy is enough of a hassle. Well..2 dogs and a horse and a house. Kids will come i'm sure. But yeah bye bye personal time.

SOB...5' bed. So tempting. Definitely won't have funds for that. Balls.

Welded in order it all lines up with the cutouts for indexing. At that point it is like anything else, you just have to fixture it while welding to avoid the warp and make sure you weld in short sections.

    certainly managable.

But the LBJ, how is that attaching? I just skimmed it. What is replacing the LBJ stud?

You remove the whole balljoint cup from a factory lower assembly and weld in a slug that a huge bolt passes through instead.

Nice. That ain't a bad idea. Still have the 4 little bolt issue but thats way more manageble.

Lower Uni's still be a pain to keep maintained but still really nice.

Guess it's a matter of if you wannt buy and have it installed over the weekend, or start welding for a week or two haha

I have many hours after work in which to weld stuff, so it is doable. I'd still have to buy some tie rod extenders, or borrow my buddy's lathe and make some and get some limit straps, but the rest is avail online and just needs to be send to a cutter.

I've been considering replacing the corolla for a while. Then I wrecked it a couple of weeks ago. If it's not totaled (probably isn't) and it gets fixed, I am still over it. The corolla was intended as a commuter, but I don't do that anymore. So I'm looking to replace it with something.

The preferred something needs to have a high seating position like the truck. And it needs to be a 4x4 or at least AWD. The 3rd gen T4R is a consideration, aside from meeting the basic criteria, there is one that is going to be available soon that looks interesting. But there are several choices out there. Hell, if Toyota sold the Rav4 Prime here (they don't for some reason) I'd probably already have one of those.

Ah didn't know you wrecked it. Bummer. Also kind of forgot you don't commute anymore haha

    Get a Corolla gr!

Have you driven a 4runner? I find the handling to be...strange. Mostly predictable but still odd with the way the rear axle swings.

Get a prime out of state. What's stopping you from buying it in Idaho or something?

haha, Idaho would be the last place something like that is offered. You can typically only get them in Oregon (Portland/Salem) or California (Bay Area/LA Basin)

Electric vehicles (and partial EVs) require lots of chips and components that are still in very short supply. They don't waste the EV stock by taking them to where the infrastructure is lacking and the demand is non-existent. They can sell just as many in those two regions and not have as many short supply issues according to their research. Hyundai/KIA is doing the same regions for EVs too, except they included Seattle area. They will not dealer trade them out of those areas either, you have to travel to get them if you aren't from there.

Interesting but makes sense......if you can call that sense.

    Bummer.

Okay so back to the GR Corolla..haha that's what I'd buy for a new DD if I could afford it. Could drive it to work 90% of the time I think with good snow tires.

It's been a long time, but I have driven one before. I was considering them when I was looking to buy a truck in '06. I got the RedHead instead and well, here we are.

I did try to get a Rav4 Prime in the Portland area about a year ago. Visited a few dealerships in the area. One dealership I visited had a waiting list 500 deep. And when one arrived on the truck, they would send out a mass email to everyone on that list and whoever showed up first with cash in hand got it. The salesman I spoke with said that the most recent one they got lasted 6 minutes. That supply situation was ridiculous and doesn't work very well for someone who lives 3 hours away. I am not sure if things have improved or not.

The GR is definitely intriguing. It's downfall is its a car with a low seating position. Other than that, it looks like it would be a lot of fun. One came up on Car & Bids recently and sold for $48K. I think the base "Core" model starts at $42K. But there is a supply issue there too.

    yeah that doesn't sound fun.

Just don't want to bend down into a car anymore is that it?

I'd love to have one. Probably not very likely given my future house plans...already have remodel plans and have to finish out the bonus room and garage. Then also hopefully a big ole shop after that.
