Okay, I'm about 3 months away from my new truck purchase (I'm currently in a lease) and wondering how everyone likes their 2011's. I know there's quite a debate over little noises-blower motors-etc but I am just looking for sincere opinions on their trucks so far. I have wanted a gen 2 tacoma since I saw the first ones in '05. I'm finally in a position to buy one cash and still weighing my options. I love the truck and have test drove one and my wife loves it as well. I'll be towing a 16' Lund boat (no big deal about 1500lbs total) so I know that's not an issue. Thanks guy's (and gal's) ;)

I have a 2011 TRD Sport DC...I absolutely love it!! I haven't had any issues with it. Runs strong and I don't doubt that it can tow anything you challenge it with!

Got the noisy blower problem, and not-so-good mpg compared to fullsize trucks, but beside that I'm having a great experience with my 2011.

I love it. Only thing wrong is a little rattle somewhere behind the glovebox when I hit bumps. Common thing with these trucks and a easy fix. I just haven't bothered with it, yet.

    Just as advertised for me.

No blower issues. I had the rear leaf TSB done because I do some moderate hauling.

Look into the JBL/bluetooth option. There's a lot of debate over the quality of the JBL system, but the bluetooth is a must have, for me anyway.

    Good luck with your decision...

    Too few to list.
I've had mine for about 5 months. Zero issues. No loose steering, no blower noise. I did get the rear leaf TSB negotiated with the buying process. You might want to do the same if you're towing.

Only had mine 4 weeks tomorrow, so I cant say a whole lot. Has been great so far. (knock on wood) Ride is smooth, quiet, has good power, but I haven't gotten on her yet. I did get on a couple I test drove and they seemed suprisingly strong coming from a Hemi Ram. Mpg has been decent, right where I figured at 18-19 mixed driving. Love my JBL system and the bluetooth. I am afraid of all these noises I keep reading about though. Good luck!

the trucks dont have any major issues, you turn the key and they drive..

but you will absolutely be annoyed by all the small rattles, and bumpers that rust out in a few months, the windshield squeals, the weak leaf springs, blower motor squeaking.. and some have even got small rust chips on there doors,

im on my 2nd rear bumper, third windshield seal, and my 4th blower motor is on order.. my drivers side door is rusting behind the window..

im grateful that toyota fixes these things under warranty, but warranty runs out and the problems keep coming back..

as the previous comment, i also came from a hemi ram.. and i miss it dearly, for all of the taco fans out there, dont knock em until to you have tried them for more than a drive around the block..

my Tacoma was great on my test drive, about 2 months after buying it, it seems like toyota has the worst quality ive seen in any of the vehicles ive ever purchased.

not to mention, the resale on the 2010's is far lower than 09 and 08 models..
reason being is all the dealerships know they cant sell em like the other models, because they arent built to the same standards..

This part I totally don't understand. The 2009's and 2010's in my area are going for as much as a 2011! Also, if this is still a 2nd generation Tacoma, I can't see how how they are not built to the same standards as they were in '08. Also, I have a hard time believing that Toyota has the WORST quality you have ever had. IN NO WAY am I calling you a liar, this is just totally opposite of what I've always heard.

There are also many people posting that they never had any issues or very little at all. I had a 2006 Dodge Ram Hemi Sport and I HATED it. It road like a basketball with those 20' wheels, I had to have BOTH front wheel bearings replaced at 3000 miles, a clip let loose in the rear end after 5600 miles and destroyed the diff, driver's power seat stopped working after 8 month's and the rear passenger window broke while it was down To me the Dodge Ram I had was the worst vehicle i EVER owned and wouldn't buy another. I guess it's just how the dice rolls for you

2006 was a refreshed desgin, they all had issues, im very familiar with all the issues, my ram was an 03 with the first new hemi.

and yes, im being 100% honest my 2010 is the worst quality i have owner myself in a vehicle. not the worst ive seen, just the worst i have owned..

and yes i understand that every vehcile has its own set of problems. however there is only reason i bought my tacoma.

    1> resale value
2> fuel mileage over my hemi v8

so far, the mileage is the same, (i had my hemi modded like crazy)
and the resale value has dropped by half since i bought it.

i just cant believe how much cheaper a 2010 used is compared to a 2009 in my area..

    Hello,
Frist time Toyota owner, I’ve had my 2011 TRD A/C since Nov/2010 now with only about 5000kms on it. I really enjoy driving the vehicle overall BUT I certainly have come to the conclusion that for the amount of money spent, I am really disappointed in the quality of this truck. Up until 2 weeks ago, I am the lastest victim of the blower motor squeak – the chirp started out to be tolerable but now I am at a point where when I can, I just turn it off (but with the cold weather we are having lately, this is not a option); last weekend I just noticed that the chrome bumper has developed some surface rust (despite washing the vehicle every 2 weeks). I realize the city uses some kind of mixture of salt, but rust this early?? Both the end tips on either side has rusted out completely. I have been able to rub clean most of the surface rust though; I noticed that the doors require an extra effort to close completely which I had to get used to. I now close the door all the way with my palm touching the rest of the vehicle—I came out one morning and the door didn’t close all the way and sure enough the interior light was still on, thankfully the vehicle started; I’ve also notice that the transmission “hangs” when I slow to a stop and then re-accelerate, you hear the transmission/engine reving but for that moment you definitely feel that hesistation – I noticed there is a TSB on this but I’ve read mixed reviews on the flash – again on a 2011, you figured this issue would be resolved; I’ve also noticed that the interior plastic scratches really easy. I know it’s a truck, and it’s not to be kept in mint conditon but the interior just seems so fragile; when I first picked up the truck, every so often I felt a light pulse feeling in the brake pedal – I’ve since been told that this is normal for this type of vehicle and I have actually grown used to it and really don’t notice it at all unless I want to; luckliy I haven’t expericed the harsh ride as the trucks in Canada come standard with the 4 leaf pack already; so now I guess I’m waiting for the overhead temp console to go, the wheel bearings to go bad, and the loose feeling in the steering wheel?!
Perhaps I’m being too picky but by comparison, for the past 10-12 years I’ve owned 2 Subarus (both were bought new, driven about 5 years each). Each purchase (even this Tacoma purchase) was a result of not-at-fault accidents including last year’s hail storm write off. Both my Subarus had only regular oil changes and never had any issues. I needed a 4x4 truck this time around so that’s why I went with the Tacoma but I’m starting to wonder if I made the wrong decision – perhaps I should have done a bit more research.

This is my third toyota truck as a DD in the last 21 years. I drove a dodge pickup for 50 months and now am in a '11 access cab, 4x4 SR5, v6, six speed and I just love it. It has twice the tow rating as the dodge, but a smaller bed, and about the same gas mileage.

It has been 3 weeks and about 1,200 miles and I am starting to bond with this vehicle...

Thanks again guy's, I appreciate every one who posted! My only fear or maybe for a better word concern is, after all this time wanting this truck I'm a little afraid that it might not live up to it's expectations. There are however WAY more people that love their tacos than the ones that don't like them. Thanks again!

Look outside the box and check out the other mid-size trucks out there. If its a Tacoma you want make sure you get the model you need and you will be happy with your purchase.
