You''ve seen dealers that use KBB? I thought NADA was the standard. They put KBB on the windshield because its always crazy high.

No, didn't say that lol. NADA/Blackbook is what the dealers use, Edmunds is closer to them than KBB. KBB is sort of a 'in a perfect world' tool which dealerships will almost NEVER give you the value.. it's useful for selling your vehicle private party though.

Seriously, why are people arguing against finding a solution?

This site used to be great. Someone had an issue, everyone worked to or pointed out a known solution and was nice about it. Now most people are complete asshats and bitch out people trying to seek out and share solutions to issues and ideas. If people put half as much energy into trying to help instead of blowing of anger from their e-peen things would get done

I understand your frustration. Hopefully corporate will have an answer for you. In the meantime I would recommend at least going to a reputable glass shop in your area and asking them if they've ever seen such a thing, and what they would recommend. Perhaps they have an aftermarket solution, and corporate will foot the bill.

My gf's corolla made that noise as detailed in this video, dicking around with the windshield made no difference. by accident we tracked it down to the area in yellow in the pic, it seemed to be caused by these buttons in red holding the plastic down being loose causing it to be able to move around, I shoe goo'd it down and we dont have the noise anymore.

I'm not familiar with the 05+ taco's engine bays but if there is something similar in there that could cause this issue it may be worth while to investigate

Note: this is not the engine bay of my gf's car.

I don't know what it is with me? Maybe someone can tell me what i'm doing wrong?
But EVERYTIME I go to any dealer service department (cars, trucks, motorcycles, lawn tractors) I get the RUDE, CONDESENDING, INSULTING treatment by either the Service Mgr, or the Service Wrt.
I do dress up everywhere I go, I look good, I even use mens makeup, I am always told how handsome and good looking I am, most women think i'm gay, but i'm not. but when I first greet the service people in charge I quickly get that "what do you what"? rude attitude. I ask very politely what I want and they always have some excuse to say "no" but are afraid to say "no"!
Do you think if I walk into a service dept dressed like a hillbilly I would be treated better?
I can't stand rejection for my spring TSB and I am afraid to be rejected by another dealer.

My 07 4 door makes that same noise at highway speeds in heavy crosswinds. Sounds like the strong wind creates an lots of drag on one side and pulls door out in upper corners.

I haven't ever had the Kazoo noise or anything from the windshield. I honestly haven't heard of anyone having that problem since it was recognized by Toyota and the TSB came out. I don't think I ever heard of anyone with a 2008 or 2009 having the problem. Maybe they changed something again.

I do however have plenty of wind noise from the side view mirror area, which I did everything under the sun to fix but never did. I dynomated the doors (helped a little), used wind shields (helped a little aswell), tried filling cracks with silicone (did nothing), even taping off the whole side view mirror just to see exactly where it was originating from and I never could make it go away completely. Putting electric tape under the openings on the bottom of the mirrors helped the most but it never went away completely. Though I think I tracked the sound pretty well as originating from wind that comes up and flows underneat the side mirrors. I still think it is mainly due to poorly designed side view mirrors with a flimsy design.

I will say I really hope the 2012 Tacoma ups the ante as far as cab quality and finishings go. I love the truck mechanically, stylistically, and I even love the seats and much of the interior. I just feel like alot of the plastic is too thin, too brittle, and put together in a way where squeaks and creaks come far too easily.

On my family tobacoo farm we have tons of farm use trucks that are used for work and most of them are from the 70s 80s and 90s and the all put us with abuse really well and even the interiors are in sounds shape. After knowing what my Tacoma is like when I baby it I have to say that if I used it on the farm as a real work truck like I had once planned then the insides of the doors and dash would be falling apart and broken before a year was up.

I have a 2010 4WD Tacoma (my third 4WD Off Road Tacoma) and my wife has a 2008 Corolla... neither vehicle has these issues. My truck is used for off roading in Baja and the desert... all that vibration and if there was a flaw in the windshield seal, you think it would be heard... as I do drive over 70 on the freeways.
My truck was made at the Toyota de Baja California factory, outside of Tijuana.

If they can't fix it... I suggest going to a windshield installation business in your town and see what he can do about it... Some things we may pay for, that we shouldn't have to... But in the end, we will enjoy our $30,000+ investment a whole lot better!

I ended up fixing my '05 rear suspension bottoming-out problem after the dealer wouldn't (I didn't know about the TSB)... Cost me a few hunderd dollars for the Ride Rites, but by truck was amazing after the air bags went on, and I was happy!

    Happiness is worth a lot!

My 2011 TRD has it. Heard it for the first time the other day. I don't think it's coming from the windshield though. It sounds more like the passenger side window.

there is a disturbing lack of reading the thread going on here.. I've yet to see anyone look around their engine bay to see if a problem like described in my previous post exists.

Is this a bitch at toyota thread? Because I didnt make my post for the hell of it, I would like to see you guys able to fix these problems without getting the run around from toyota.

I suggest you try what I suggested in my previous post as I've had it succeed where the TSB suggestions failed on my gf's corolla.

Brando, thanks for your response. I actually stopped reading the thread because all it turned into was bitch at people for having a legit issue and trying to solve it. I'll try and check it out tomorrow, however unfortunately I may not know any results for quite some time as speed limits are a lot lower in Oregon than AZ :D

Well my date with the arbitrator is set for April 15th. A new development. I had the rear spring tsb done at the dealership. Today I am driving down the street and a car pulls up next to me says "hey your shock is hanging off." Come home and sure enough no bolt no nut on the lower shock mount, shock just hanging there.

So now I don't want my truck fixed at all. I just want my money back and they can have the truck. Sometimes you just need to cut your losses and move on. Toyota has failed in every aspect from the initial sale, to quality, to service, warranty, you name it. Live and learn.
