I think one will be able to tell if the truck was abused off road.

This statement is bizzare to me. How are you guys driving? Drag racing at every light? I’m so confused, Tacoma has plenty of power.

I don’t get it. It’s a midsize truck that does light duty midsize truck stuff just fine. It’s great off-road right out of the box, gets decent fuel economy, has enough power, it’s reliable, good for towing ~4.5k pounds and looks fantastic.

The one negative thing I’ll say about the taco is the rear leg room. My dog hasn’t complained yet though.:)

With over 2m sold and some getting to be 7.5yrs old, the plain fact is that a lot folks don't hold on to vehicles for more than a few years or so.

Back in 2017 or so, they were hard to find used. But, if you look at the new Rangers, Gladiators, and others, they were polluting dealer lots a few months after debuting.

On an internet forum, one can only form opinions of people based on what they post.

I personally have pretty much the same opinion of anyone that buys a Tacoma, regardless of year model, or configuration, then complains that it's a "slow ass little truck".

I have bought and sold vehicles and accessories on craigslist with much luck.
When I am selling a vehicle I just let them take it on a test drive by themselves. If they take off and don’t comeback, who cares since I have insurance that will payout higher than private value I was selling for. :D

    Fair.

Nobody said it’s “fast”. But saying that it can’t keep up “from stoplight to stoplight” is just nonsense.

There must be billons of just 3rd gens out there. Might be the most popular used vehicle sold. The only other vehicle produced in that volume, is probably F-150, and that's not counting the other Fseries trucks.

Good eye; nobody in this thread said "fast".

Sure, that looks nice, but I found two very fishy things:

    1) It's posted in Indianapolis. When I called, the guy on the phone said the truck is physically located in California. He said "Yeah, we advertise all over to get the most exposure."
    2) When I went to the website they have listed, it redirects you to ANOTHER website. When I searched that site, I couldn't find any record of the Toyota being listed for sale.

Things are still crazy. And a Tacoma isn't easy to come by unless you don't mind bending over

Here's the best deal on an SR in Denver. 30k miles but still msrp

I paid $25K for first-owner, un-modded 2014 AC 4.0L TRD OR, 6-spd manual, factory tow package, 61K miles, about 40% left on the tires, in Sept. 2021. With all dealer service history / maintenance records.

Seems like that's still a fair price for that configuration & mileage?

(FWIW I went with a late 2nd gen specifically for the gas-hungry but reliable 1GR-FE engine. Not sure how well the 3.5L V6 3rd gen power plant is going to hold up over a 15-25 year working life span...)

Cargurus has no listing for a trd from 2014. Closest thing to it:
