SS3 Foglights w/ Amber Backlight

Hi Everyone! I just got my hands on a set of the Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE fog lights with the amber backlight. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to wire up the amber backlights for my Tacoma.

I am wanting to have the amber backlights on at all times. Obviously having them off when the fog lights are enabled.

Is this possible and if so what is the simplest way of doing this? I thought about hooking up the amber backlight wiring to an add a fuse and running that to the INJ fuse location or the ACC fuse. What are your thoughts?

those units self turn off the backlight when the fog light is energized
the INJ is very popular for Raptor lights, so same concept

Thanks! Aside from running the add a fuse to one of the INJ fuse locations. What other fuse would you recommended I tie into? I’m not 100% sure I want to mess with the INJ fuse for fear that a failure will leave me stranded.

This harness has been amazing. I have one for each headlight and have used them for multiple backlit products making them all pnp. 30k miles and still going strong. IMO this is the best solution for stalk drl.

 

It merges DRL (high) and tail/parking circuits to energize added lights. Diodes to prevent feedback to each circuit.

 

this would be the best solution for having my backlights always on? Better than connecting them to an add a fuse?

 

The back light led only consume .4 amps (each lamp) and you are tying into fused circuits. When the DRL High turns off (at low beam select) you maintain power through the TAIL circuit.

 

Allows you to turn them off with stalk off. So you can creep up on someone and punk them.

Also keeps the fuse box tidy. I run an integrated version of this feed as per of my Oem led conversion harness.

 

Good thinking! Is it best to get the Driver and Passenger Harnesses or do I need the switch pros?

 

Absolutely. No tapping, completely reversible and with the option to turn them off and on with the oem headlight switch.

 

The one Diode Dynamics offer is that for the non full LED headlamps?

Aka: Halogen bulb with led running lights.

 

If you don’t have a Switch-Pros, you don’t need the switch-pros version.

you can do one LED T or two as stated in the thread I linked. If one then you need the dual ss3 harness. If two then you get the 12” singles.

 

Yes, they have that now.

 

Good looking out. Might have to opt for their $20 harness then get yours once I upgrade to LED lamps lol.
