I just took the picture directly from the article I was reading and just wanted to share it. I didn't take the picture. I wasn't doing research. Just saw a truck and decided to talk about it on a truck forum. Sorry for posting. It won't happen again...

A big part of vehicle aesthetics for me has always been the "face" of a vehicle, which I think is where the Tacoma shines in comparison to the other mid-sizes of the last few years. Stock for stock, Tacoma's look aggressive, without overdoing it. Beyond the front end, the body width at the wheel wells gives it some beefy "shoulders", and the bed top rail height makes sense for a midsize truck. I think all of the domestic offerings bedsides are waaaay to high, which makes it look like the truck's "ass" is sticking up in the air all the time.

Chevy Colorado's headlights (outgoing gen) always looked super feminine to me, like they just needed some eyeliner to complete the Barbie truck look. Not enough shoulders. The new 2023's look better in pictures, but there still seems to be a lot going on in the front end, almost too much styling.

GMC Canyon's outgoing gen looked decent, but I always thought that gen Sierra was one of the most handsome trucks made in the last 20 years, with the Canyon sharing similar styling. 2023's have some nice shoulders but I'm meh on the front end looks.

Ford Rangers always looked super bland to me, like the front end of it looks like it belongs on a crossover, not a truck. Somehow the new one looks even worse, I'm not sure how Ford thought the Maverick styling needed to propagate into the Ranger.

I'm one of the (seemingly) few on these forums that likes the new Tundra styling, and wouldn't mind the 4th gen taking some styling cues, although hopefully it looks a bit more like the Sequoia front end.

If I had done it on their forum, I'd agree. However I was just stating I didn't like something. Just took the photo from the article I was reading, nothing more. The website for the article is here: https://www.motor1.com/news/631984/2024-ford-ranger-north-america-spied-uncovered/

I apologize for offending everyone. I wasn't doing serious journalism, just making a comment. I didn't know I didn't have a right in voicing an opinion. I'd never do that to anyone here, never will. My crime was I said I'd keep my truck. That's all. Didn't cherry pick a photo... Just took it from the article directly. Never said anyone else should agree with me.

No worries man! You don't have to explain yourself. And no matter what you post on here there will always be someone that's offended or doesn't agree with you. Try not to let it worry you!

I think you're getting a bit too offended by what someone on a forum thinks. There's no need for that as it is a discussion forums. Balls will be busted.

That being said, my point is the same. Give everything a fair chance in life. It's quite clear from that photo to any gearhead that we're dealing with a 2WD, base-ish version of a pre-production Ranger, that would certainly pale in comparison to your TRD trim level pick-up. Leave bias at the door and always compare apples to apples. Life lessons, brought to you by TacomaWorld.

Have you missed the front end of the new Tundra or Silverado HD?

I'm no photography expert, but something appears to be off with the proportions in their photos.

I don't think it looks too bad. It doesn't look any worse than the outgoing model IMHO, and it looks a hell of a lot better than the new Tundra if we're talking strictly aesthetics.

I think the looks of any new/redesigned model are almost always going to be somewhat shocking and divisive. As they age though, they start to look better and better to me personally. This actually looks decent to me from the get-go. When the Maverick first debuted, I thought it was one of the ugliest things on the market. Now though, not so much. When the 2010 Mazda 3 first came out, I thought they were absolutely hideous with that big gaping smile in the front. Then, after comparing and driving the competition, I ended up buying one. It's funny how things can grow on you like that. There are always exceptions to the rule though; the Aztec and "new" Beetle come to mind.

If I were ever to buy a Ranger, or even a Maverick, it would get modded anyway. So I wouldn't worry too much about how it looked from the factory. It's amazing what a set of wheels and tires can do.

I'll never understand the people who get upset by Toyota enthusiasts on a Toyota forum saying they like Toyota.

Agreed, what l quoted said the market was cornered by Ford for ugly front ends, was just disagreeing by showing other ugly ones too.
