    Pickings do look slim.

Manufactures are required to continue to supply OEM parts for 10 years after the manufacture date. The last year that headlight was used was 2011. So the last year Toyota needs to continue making it is 2021. That said, Toyota has amazing parts availability for older vehicles. I can still buy new OEM headlights for my 2003 and did a few months ago. I also bought a new OEM seatbelt for the same truck and a new OEM seat trim piece, all for something 20 years old. I'd speculate they paused production to liquidate the existing inventory of the old style lights. Based on Toyota's history of supplying parts, I'd bet the resume production at some point in the not too distant future when the existing light inventory gets low or runs out.

thank you for the info. By not matching... how bad was the original DRLs? Wondering how bad of a mismatch it will be. Just burn out faster? Not work entirely?

They will work fine, just the DRLs portion of the assembly will just be visibly different in appearance between the 2 assemblies. Personally I'd want them to both be identical.

Eventually the originals will start to burn/melt the inner plastic lens of the DRL but it takes years. Here is a side by side of the two I was sent and ultimately sent back since they did not match. Left is updated TSB housing with clear glass inner lens and right is original non-TSB with yellowish plastic lens, also has a little square in front of the bulb.

Thanks for that. I'll be patient and wait.

Hi and thanks for the vast knowledge you’re providing!

I have a 2012 dclb trd sport. I just ordered the Pro headlights, part numbers 81110-04221 & 81150-04221. The parts store just emailed saying that these parts don’t fit my vin number. I’m just double checking that I have the correct part numbers for my year truck and am assuming the parts store aren’t aware that these headlights fit the non-trd trucks?

    Thank you!

Those part numbers are correct for the smoked chrome TRD lamps for 12-15 trucks. The VIN check will say that they 'not fit' as in they didn't come on your truck, the bright chrome ones did. The smoked chrome versions are only different in color, otherwise 100% identical. They'll fit your 2012.

Part number reference available in the 2nd Gen headlight thread:

Thank you! The parts store did confirm they would fit, but only after I pushed them in the issue. I guess they were covering their asses based off the vin number.
Lights/bulbs/wiring harness ordered and I’m looking forward to some decent low beam light for mountain road driving in Tahoe!

Why did you get lights, bulbs, and wiring harness as well? Can I reuse those parts if they are in good shape? Or do I need to buy a new wiring harness if I get those headlights?

Okay thanks. Do you know if the fog lights for the TRD pro are also smoked chrome? I want to replace those as well.

Also, do the headlamp assemblies come with everything like the bulbs included?

12-15 all come with the same wide-angle H11 chrome fogs. Actually a very good fog light compared to other Tacoma models. If you want something different, check out the SAE fog thread. Diode Dynamics SS3s in selective yellow, or the Diode Dynamics Elites are worth looking at:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/

Depends on the part number. They are available both loaded with bulbs and as a bare assembly without.

Okay, thanks. Does this part number come fully loaded? These are the TRD pro ones
    #81110-04221
I can't seem to find them bare assembly. I just replaced the main beam bulbs, so could potentially save some money.
