Interesting data-point, that has 120K miles on it. Also I think the 6 spd. manual commands a small premium, so probably my $25K figure remains about right.

KBB (Kelley Blue Book) website says my truck, with 68K miles on it, is currently worth $21.2K for a private party transaction, with condition set to "good" -- seems like a low-ball to me relative to what I'm seeing in active Facebook Marketplace comparables within a 500-mile radius of my California location.

There is that, but I'd also love to know what folks consider a fast mid-size pickup?

Take away the Syclone and 5.9 Dakotas (the Dakota was no faster than the Taco), what is there really? Everything current is within a tick of the Taco.

Just curious, but what do you consider to be a fast mid-size pickup? Nothing out there is more than a scosche faster than our Taco.

So? Who's to say the same couldn't happen with a transaction started here?

I did get one guy who wanted to meet me *right now* in a sketchy spot for full price. I told him that if I had to travel to that town, the soonest I could do so would be several days away, and that I'd be meeting him at a branch of my bank, where he'd deposit the cash into my account and we'd get a notary to seal a purchase agreement while on video. He went silent after that. I don't really think he was going to rob me- if he was, I would have heard about his scam on someone else by now. But whatever he was up to, it wasn't for me. I ended up selling it to the first person that responded to me.

It's very easy to deal with craigslist if you set the bar high and ignore the nonsense. I'll say it again- I'm shocked that I got nothing from this site, full of enthusiasts who think the things are worth their weight in gold.

This is the ONLY truck available with a manual transmission. There's that. I know that doesn't mean much to many people, but it does to me.

I would generally agree. I was shocked no one was serious who messaged me about the truck I recently sold. I sold a clean 2021 two weeks ago to a dealership instead. I had a bit of interest on TW with a thorough ad but no one came through. I ended up trading it in for the same price I had it listed for.

You forgot to mention reliability, a major attraction for Tacos compared to quite a few other makes of light pickup trucks.

It is true there is a certain, probably large, section of the Taco market that is basically vanity owners/drivers. Trucks that will never see cargo use beyond a load of COSTCO or Walmart groceries. But that's true for all the mid-sized and full-sized pickups as well. There are tons of F150s, F250s, and various Rams where I live that quite obviously haven't seen a lick of work & probably won't ever, unless they get sold into the used market to be picked up by contractors etc.

January is also a buyers month; people need money to pay off Christmas, and the weather is crap in many places. Just my observation from selling and buying.

I think you paid close to MSRP when new, for a used truck.

I was looking for a second gen DCLB the first month I sold my 5th gen but decided that paying 25K+ for a truck with over 60K miles on it was not worth it.

I put in a little more money and used it towards a down payment on my 2023. I waited 5 months but I still have my 1st gen daily driver, so I was not in a rush like someone else might me. I paid MSRP +900 for PPF. which is better then many other dealerships who have ADM over 5K here in Los Angeles.

    Yup.
I'm middle aged, and it's a truck; pass me.
My pride is intact, and driving at/near the speed limit is actually kinda relaxing for so many reasons.
If I want to get there sooner, I'll leave earlier.

    You are not wrong.

Daily, I enjoy witnessing the backup of most peeps clogging the left lane. Gives me a laugh. The right lane has none of the stress and typically goes the fastest when the traffic gets heavier.

Not sure, 278hp is plenty IMO. Never understood lack of power complaint, even with extra 650 pounds.

Buddy had a 5.9 Dakota R/T in highschool and I remember it being very very quick. Pushed me into the seat pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s no faster than our tacos but that was ages ago so my memory might be lacking.:)

My neighbor's kid had one about 10yrs ago. What I remember most was that he was working on it continuously to get to work.

I'm pleased with the output of the 3.5l also.

Coming from the 5th gen 4runner after two years of ownership, I am also satisfied with the 3.5L

Exactly. I usually hang out in the right lane and watch others stress out and try to get somewhere 2 minutes quicker. It’s actually quite entertaining, love slowly pulling up to folks on red lights that just passed me and slammed on their brakes.

There is absolutely no point to drive fast in the city, 1 red light and everyone that you passed will catch right up to you. Well and you are wasting gas, brakes and it’s just harder on a vehicle.

I love to wind out our car engine on the highway ramps though.:D Surprises me everytime how much balls it has.

Man my first truck was 1990 mazda b2200 with about 90hp or so. Now that thing was slow. Ppl are spoiled nowdays haha.

    Haha!

Good ol dodge. I almost bought an early 2000s Dakota before I bought my ranger, I’m glad I didn’t. Looked great, MT, good size, but man…
