So the water leak in the Silverado is a firewall grommet. I tried RTV, but it's in a weird spot and I couldn't cover as well as I would've liked. I was thinking about stuffing this crap in the grommet from the inside. Thoughts? Suggestions toward another fix?

From the outside I probably could. Inside is another story. My contortion days are over. It's partly my fault putting wires through it. Partly just age. It's conical. And I was thinking about stuffing that crap inside of it. The RTV helped, but it's still trickling in. I don't even know where the water is dripping onto it from. It's underneath the rain tray.

Old mods. Ignore the electrical tape. It's temporary. On the inside that ring-like portion has separated. It's only a trickle coming, but it's enough over time.

 

Don't tempt me.

 

Tim may have actually had a good idea. They make crap called Flex Shot. I may.

Well, I know there have been a few questionable ones along the way. Although writing my name in the dirt through a passenger window was a unique, and hopefully non-repeatable event. Should have taken a picture of that.

 

Good news. New shoes on the truck and it actually drives rather nicely now. No more making scrambled eggs on the steering wheel.

 

Dope 4runner already gone. Someone must have had a mall parking lot to wheel in.

Speaking of 4runners. I've noticed something between two trim levels. The TRD off-roads have a traditional stick for the transfer case. The SR5s have a twirly knob. Are the transfer cases between the two different?

 

Sometimes I come in here just to get a conversation started so I have something to occupy me at work.
