I'd guess you could find some type of clamp or anchor to secure it? Maybe a zip tie attached to the anchor or bracket, but not the pex pipe to pull the anchor away from the heat source. :notsure:

As I posted above pex a will be fine at normal hydronic temps. If it makes you feel better you could wrap em in pipe insulation or secure with some talons like others mentioned

Good evening everyone. It's been good to watch a few of you making progress on house projects during the winter, I will start to attempt to skim coat a bedroom pretty soon. I will post pics of the results, good or bad.

I haven't been outside to do much of anything on the deck since DLS time started, too dark when I get home from work. The pause has been good for me though, it has given time to think about the smaller walk-way deck that goes from the back door to the main deck, It used to be set up that the main deck was 1 step below the walkway deck, now that I moved the ledger up to the rim joist for the main deck, the 2 will be at the same height. Since the other small walkway deck is in equally poor condition, I had the thought to modify the framing a bit and to tie in the ( to be built ) new smaller deck into the side of the main deck. I have a few questions about the framing of it. I can't find any guide lines for proper framing in the county requirements for the framing, the closest that I could find was the framing procedure for when you need to frame around a bay window or chimney.

I made a sketch to what I think would be more then strong/safe enough but if anyone could look at it and give me some feedback, it would be appreciated.

The sketch is hopefully clear enough. My biggest unknown is the beam to be built at the right side of the main deck where the walkway deck will tie in. Do I need a triple 2x8 or would a double 2x8 be enough? The small deck is currently 4 x 10, anchored with a ledger at the house and (3) 4x4's coming up from an unknown depth in the ground all the way up to act as hand rail posts. ( balloon construction?) That needs to go away, for sure.

I would do away with the end post where the 2 decks meet, use the double/triple beam as a ledger of sorts and use(2) 6x6 posts with a notch to let the double rim joist set in them. I will increase the depth to 6' ( making the walkway deck 6 x 10 )and span the gap with 2x8's to a new ledger anchored to the rim joist of the house. I can use the inside corner intersection of the 2 decks to mount a common handrail post.

isolate them if possible , the pex shouldn't melt but hydronic baseboards / registers do generally run at a higher water temperature than in slab hydronic systems , we always keep the pex and copper separate

Just found a leaking valve on the toilet, and of course I can’t find the part number online. Are these valves rebuildable or just replace with a new one?

Edit: I’m gonna take a guess and say that NSF61-9 is not the part number.

Around the stem or handle, I think it got bumped when she mopped the floor.

Doesn't look like that has a stem nut, so replace most likely

I would just replace it with a new 1/4 turn valve and call it a day.

Replace with a 1/4-turn ball valve unit. They are less than $10, and you won't have a leak issue again with it.

I replaced all of them in my house.

Yup, it looks like its a threaded post so make sure you pickup the threaded valve and not the one that needs to be sweat. Really stupid simple to replace. Pick up a new rubber washer for the flex hose and replace that while you're down there, should be really inexpensive.

Installing filters and then softener and running all new PEX-A UPONOR supply lines and fittings. Man I love using this system.

I'd put an inline carbon filter after the sediment pre filter, but before the softener.

Yours look easy to replace since it appears to be threaded on. Good luck! That must have been a big mop!

I replaced all my shut off valves and hoses a few years back. Got the same Keeney 1/4 turns from Lowes or HD. Can't remember which. I think they were around $12 a piece at the time.

I'm just curious, is there a type of release agent sprayed on the forms? Back in the day it was a pressurized spray tank full of diesel on the forms.
