As stated above a lot has to do with location, statistics and the price of parts/labor. There is usually an online insurance reduction class that will save 10% or more. Now my complaint with GEICO. We recently move to another state so I understand a different rate.. okay but “G” would not let us drop the insurance on the same cars and truck re-Insured with them in another state with new plates but same VIN… ie double billing. Once we mailed in the old plates and the previous state issued a release we’re we able to drop the initial state insurance on the same truck/cars. It just
    pissed me off.

I should add I carry full insurance coverage including glass plus an all risk umbrella policy for 1,000,000. T only costs a few hundred a year but well
worth the protection in my opinion.
The ads for only pay for what you need is the state’s minimum insurance coverage. What you need will likely be a lot more if you have a serious accident where someone is injured so it’s really risk reward.

Remember to put what city you are insured in, as it varries a lot for place to place. Also, your age, gender and driving history.

    40yo/male/clean driving history/geico

My 05 was $60/month full coverage in San Antonio. I moved back to New Orleans, it went up to 110$ (this was two years ago)

Two months ago, it shot up to $235/month

Insurance is effected by regions, ie. If it is flood prone the risk is much higher. If the auto thief is abnormally high,…..

First of all drive safely, know your limitation and your vehicle’s, speed kills and lookout for the other guy. This latter one is job one.

Assess all your risks, including all environmental risks (floods, natural disasters) and your financial ability to carry more of the risk.

Then drop all the coverage you can, and hope for the best. This is what I do, but that just me, your mileage may vary

All insurance will eventually raise their rates. Some will "blanket" raise everyone. Others will start with their highest risk categories and work their way down.
I've discussed this with several companies and they all confirmed the same reasons.
    1) replacement parts cost higher now than ever before.
    2) drivers are more distracted now than before (texting) and causing more damage in accidents. The 5 mph fender bender is about dead. Now accidents are happening at higher rates of speed (causing more damage) because drivers are unattentitive.
    These are facts

Ugh, I really hate being lumped into the same category as all the clowns out there. I’m not infallible, but I really feel like I’m sharing statistics with a bunch of imbeciles and not being given a rate that reflects my actual risk. More than anything, I hate that there’s so many self absorbed morons out there who put my safety at risk so they can read a text

Umbrella policies are a dual edged sword. Analyze what assets you are protecting with that, otherwise it's just an invitation to be sued when the paralegal from Dewey, Cheetem, and Howe starts digging to see the value of the case. Keep in mind it's not just the asset itself, it's how much is unencumbered. If you own a piece of real estate that's worth $500k but you've mortgaged it for $450k, you're really only protecting $50k and it's doubtful anyone would want to go after it. Also check your state laws about what is exempt from judgements. Here in FL there is a homestead exemption so they can't touch your primary residence (this is why OJ Simpson took all his money and bought a huge expensive house here), and they can't touch your retirement savings. Those account for 90% of my assets, so an umbrella policy is a waste of money for me. Depending on your financial situation a policy may be worth it for you, but for me it's not.

EDIT: Florida is the bend over capital of the country for auto and homeowners insurance, so it's depressing to post what I pay lol

More info… I live in Cartersville GA clean driving record, no claims. The biggest savings was leaving Allstate and moving to Progressive. Been with Allstate for over 30 years and they jacked us around when we changed some things because of another grandson earning his own car and getting insurance in just his name. Ticked me off so I started shopping around. Ended up cutting our car insurance in half.

100 a month for full coverage (500 deductible and higher amounts + uninsured etc.) at State Farm. I briefly went to Gieco for a significant discount but less than a year later was jacked to more than what I was paying before, so I went back to SF.

Yes, it's going to vary, but there should be a trending average. It might be helpful to have some general perspective.

I mean, IF you got everyone to include the many important variables, there probably would be a bunch of folks on this forum, in the same age group, same zip code, same driving record, same credit score, same marriage status, same dependents situation, same other policies bundled in the auto policy, same limits set. You'd have a better chance at picking the winning numbers and not having to worry about the cost of vehicle insurance to get all of those even close.
My GF lives 7.5 miles from me, but her address is in "the city", if she were to move in with me, in "the county" her insurance would drop by significant amount (I can't remember the number and not going to spread misinformation).
Overall; insurance rates will go up, as crime has gone up, and since incarceration and prosecution has and will continue to go down, the insurance companies aren't stupid, they know their payouts have and will continue to go up.

They jacked up my Tacoma's rate ($2k deductible comprehensive and collision) from $800 something to $1900 per 6 months

I did file a theft claim of $56k total loss, I guess they want to milk me from charging me higher premium as much as possible

The trending average is up. :D

The main thing helpful in here is the idea to shop with an independent agent.

Mine jumped a bunch with the latest renewal too…no claims or accidents. Their excuse…inflation/increased costs.
