I went to pay yesterday and had a yelling match with the 2nd Financial Manager (told the first one she was lying). This time I was told the tire and wheel warranty had already been registered with Toyota Canada and to remove it they'd have to unregistered it.

At that point I wasn't going to give them $0.00001 more so I declined everything and did the transfer/insurance somewhere else. When I asked for the NIVS they told me it's not (more BS) on paper and the transfer had to be done electronically at the dealership.

    I paid
    $25 tire fee
    $100 AC fee
    $496 Doc fee
$1930 Delivery and PDI. Any amount for PDI is a sham because the salesman did it in 15min while I was arguing with the Financial Manager.

Edit: Tire and wheel warranty is part of the Toyota Canada Warranty and cannot be removed so it was fraud to tell me the dealer was going to remove the warranty if I didn't pay the extra.

Well after 9.5 months I finally got to see and drive it. It's a '23 model after all. I'll pick it up next week. I was surprised to see the blackout badges and rear "Tacoma" black inlays. Still no head scoop decal, though.

    Congrats!

I ended up ordering a the TRD pro decal from the US. Fortunately I live close to the border and have a place I can ship stuff. I have had many packages since getting my new Taco and more on the way :)

Thanks. Mods are never ending and I'm looking forward to them. My wallet is not, however.

PDI is quite a bit more involved than that and should include an actual test drive to ensure all systems function properly before they send the truck out. Also, they usually have to fuel it since it doesn't come filled on the truck. That's why you rarely see new vehicles with less than 5kms on them.

The salesman said he was sending it out to be filled and I could pick it up in 40min so the road test was done by the lot guy. I arrived early and the salesman had just started going through the check list. I didn't care I just wanted to get it paid for and get out of there so I could take it to another dealer for the accessories I wanted.

I wouldn't want a "lot guy" doing a "road test" on my vehicle. Bad enough they're allowed to shuttle vehicles.

Will be morphing it into my semi retired work truck
My breakdown on end of Dec. purchase of a 2023 SR5 was
    $20 tire fee
    $100 AC fee
    $10 OMVIC fee
$399 dealer fee which changed to the Toyota rim and tire warranty in the final paperwork , when I asked was told it would be one or the other cause I would have declined the tire warranty as it doesn't cover construction sites
    $1890 Freight / PDI
+ MRSP before January increase - $500 discount + the $799 lifetime rustproofing recommended by a neighbour ,lifetime being 10 years if you read the fine print
Truck was on the lot and someones cancelled order . They are local small town dealer and no pressure sales , been in same spot over 40 years .

Even the rust protection is bs. had a 1986 rusted out, not covered due to the ""seem in the bed product couldn't get there to protect", had a 97 sprayed when new" frame rusted not coveraged again"-diamond coat good for nothing

FYI. Do not pay over MSRP with additional accessories or dealer fees gentlemen, tables are turning, the last two days I have received two calls from dealerships saying their have unsold Tacomas coming in for MSRP no dealer fee in Ontario.

I was March 28, 2022 for a ‘22. The dealer had no idea it was arriving till it arrived. He said tracking it was horrible for some reason. Came in as a ‘23.

That would have had been easier on me knowing that. My dealer told me end of July or early August. Lol.

It’s been said before. The allocation process is screwy. They get what they get. Sometimes they get what they asked for. Sometimes they get it from another dealer. Time is the key. If you’re willing to wait and your dealership is up to the task, you’ll get what you want. Ordered a 21 in April 2021, switched to a 22 in June 2021, got a 2022 in April 2022 (color asked and at the price of a 22).
