    Anyone know why my blower switch is burning up?
    I replaced the fan motor and blower switch 2 years ago with OEM parts,
    I took it out today because it was sticking on high to inspect it and it has burn marks all over the plastic,
    Probably drawing too much current on high,
    Anyone know why this is happening or a fix?
    Switch is 2 years old

    Definitely needs to be replaced. Try cleaning the female connector so it doesn't arc.
    Having the blower on high offers the least resistance :)

    I bought a new switch for it and will install it tomorrow,
    with the switch on high as shown it looks like that’s that section that’s getting toasted tho,
    Would it have anything to do with the fan resistor now that I think about it?

    Just clean the coupler & you should be good to go.
    Mine is white as snow. Cycle it around when your'e driving around.

    Best guess the connection was just loose enough to get hot.

    Inspect the female side as well for arc marks

    Any long trips with the blower motor on high? For AC or Heat?

    As far as you know other then the switch sticking the blower motor was working correct.

    Maybe I need a new connector to the switch then but I bet that’s part of the wire harness

    You can buy the plastic connector and new female pin pigtails if needed .

    Part outs are also I good option in any case you will end up splicing the harness

    Your Toyota parts vendor of Choice either online or in person.

    Double Check the last 5 digits should be on the female plug #90980-10877 is from the 2003 EWD

    Then you can find the correct pigtails or make your own.

    Thanks, I talked to them this morning and that part connector is still available and can be pinned without cutting the harness after depinning it

    Have you replaced the resistor?? Mine is shorting out and I need to fix it....in other threads, the resistor is replaced (the root cause of the short)

    It’s the connector to the dash switch.
    I ordered a new switch, fan, resistor, connector, connector wires that plug into the connector,
    So should be good now

    its the harness clip that plugs into the resistor that is burning. I think it’s because the resistor goes bad, causing a load on the wires. However, the parts guy at Toyota that I know said it’s the harness’ fault for not being tight enough….I don’t think I believe that version though because I don’t recall anything feeling loose - and if it were a “loose” issue, I don’t think it would’ve taken 13yrs to begin failing.

    the dash switch becomes faulty because the wire harness is busy burning down below. My initial hot spot was fan speed 3 (my very first symptom a year ago), before burning further and disrupting the other speeds too.
    No smell at first, just speed 3 quit. Ignore it and it gets worse/risky.

    Icon Coilovers, Downsouth UCAs, rear Icon "2.5" shocks and Toytec single AAL. Still gotta do exhaust, dark headlights and re-gear the rear diff.
    Amazon actually sells the OEM parts too. $10-15 cheaper than the dealer but then you’d be paying shipping and waiting. Toyota knows about Tacoma resistors burning up so they have them in stock.
