Also, Toyota hasn't updated the 4Runner/Tacoma in ~20 years in a meaningful way to compete in the enthusiast market. I would be 100% in for a a $40K Toyota product that offered similar price/performance.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Looks good, can’t wait to see it. What are these going for in this configuration?

$47,xxx, but I have about $5500k in incentives and $1300 off invoice.

X Plan - $1300 off invoice (have to buy a MCOA membership for $25)

Price protection - equalizes for MY Costs increased 21-23 - $3059

Special Offer - $2500 - Ford offered all reservation holders who removed Hardtop and Sasquatch package an additional infinitive to remove those constraints 2 weeks ago.

I wanted Sasquatch and Hard top, but with the incentive, I was able to upgrade from a Base to a Badlands and can buy my own 35s later.

I’m hoping that someone comes out with a Habitat hard top.

I’m returning my 2010 Tacoma AC to stock and selling my good condition BAMF steel skid plate trilogy, RCI bolt on sliders, and ARB bumper.
I would like to sell the skid plates and sliders as a set for $1200. They are currently installed and I will remove them once I have a buyer as I have limited space for storage at my condo.
ARB bumper will be $500 + exchange for your stock color matched bumper. If you would like all 3 items, we can work out a bundled deal. I would also be interested in switching out my hood for a non-scooped hood. Located in Atlanta,GA. Thanks

All of those are nice updates but most are untested for long durability where Toyota shines. Definitely agree with Toyota needing to update the truck line properly. If the Tacoma had a V8 & 7spd manual.

Don't get me wrong, the 4L/5spd Auto was reliable power train and OK at the time it came out, but going on 20 years, it is very long in the tooth as far as power and efficiency.
    • I had a 2016 Tacoma with the horribly anemic 3.5L and the jerky transmission that was "all new" in 2016 and it got 17 MPG. After 3 different flashes that didn't fix it, I traded it in.
    • My 2018 4Runner still didn't have CarPlay or AA like every other vehicle did at the time and got 17 MPG just like the Tacoma.
    • The seats in the Tacoma are horrible
The new Sequioa and Tundra are $60K+ for a 4WD model. I'm sure the next TRD Pro 4 Runner and Tacomas will be $50K+ as well.

Both of those "New" vehicles also had horrible dim headlights, no driver safety features and are now close to ~$10K more than what they were in 2016/2018 with little updates.

The engine in the Bronco is the same as the Ranger which as been produced since 2011 and has been proven to be reliable world wide.

None of the other parts on there are made by Ford. Gertag makes the 7 speed and Dana makes the axles. Just like any other car, the parts are made by 100 different companies.

I'm also getting a 10yr/100K on it through Ford for $50 over cost (~$1500) so I'm not worried either way.

They are tempting. I can see why you made the change, and will agree with you on a lot of those points. As you know the yotas are built with bs power, and that correlates to longevity and reliability.
I will say that they need an update for sure, I have owned nothing but a fleet of yotas for over a decade…all which I am sure they will be running when I am old.

To each is there own and I enjoy watching you pioneer forward. If it ain’t for you..I know you will find yourself back in a toya one day.

The Bronco is the only other thing that I would really purchase in this size vehicle. Like I said I am looking forward to riding in it!

You know me! I've had like 11 Toyotas in the last 10 years.

I would honestly buy a 4th Gen Manual if I could get it with Dana 44s, F+R Locker, Wireless Carplay, Factory 33s and 20MPG+.

Our family hasn’t bought another Toyota since my old 2nd gen Tacoma for many of these same reasons. Every time we’ve been ready to buy a new car, it’s just hard to defend paying more for perceived reliability and 20 year old tech.

Just IMO, I mean I’ve held on to my 2nd gen all this time and I know this is still a Tacoma forum. Haha.

I understand all of that but still have doubts that these vehicles will make it to 50 or 100,000mi without major issues. I grew up with Ford's; we had a 1973 F-100 with a 289 and four on the floor. When we sold it, it had over 389,000mi on it and was still sound. Outside of the F-150 & F-250's(especially the Powerstrokes) there is not a Ford vehicle made that lasts long enough to make any features you listed worth it.

No one said you can't keep your Tacoma for the next 50 years. I truly wish you the best of luck. I've had 5 of them and they all have been great to me.

Here's a link to the Bronco forum if you want to continue to argue, but otherwise, this is a for sale thread.
