Steering wheel won’t center

Hey guys. I just recently picked up my 2023 tacoma from the dealership from having low transmission fluid from manufacture. They filled it to proper level. Since I picked it up, my steering wheel won’t center.. and I have to give it a little more effort to turn while driving. It’s literally brand new, I don’t see how I should be having any issues with this truck. Unless someone at the dealership messed with it. Can someone help me pin point what y’all think it is? So I can take it to a different dealership to have them fix or correct what’s needed to be done please. Thank you in advance.

Looks to be all at the right psi. Well from what it’s telling me from the dash

 

id turn right around and give it back to them to fix. longer you drive it the more they might blame it on you.

 

Yes, the thing is I don’t want them messing anything else up. Would it be better to take to a different dealership and tell them? I went in today to the same dealership and told them about it. But they was closing, so I told him I’ll be back Monday… is it best to take to different dealership?

 

I’m just going go take it to a different toyota dealership. It seems to me, every time I take a new car to that same dealership. I end up with something else wrong with it.

 

The transmission fluid level thing is normal. They haven't been able to fill up their trannys to spec since 2005. As far as your steering issue, it's probably in need of an steering rack calibration. The fact the wheel is not centered but is still driving straight is somewhat indicative of that. Regardless, you got an issue for sure, whether it needs an alignment and/ or a steering rack cal. It needs looking at for sure.

 

If it were me I would keep the paper trail simple and take it to the same one.

Nah, I rather take it to a different Toyota dealership. To me, I feel is tho they messed with it. And if I keep taking it back to same dealership. I know for sure they will either not fix it right, or damage something else. It’s been a pattern with this same dealership. I rather not let them keep damaging my new truck.

 

Have the front end alignment checked.

 

Factory alignment is shit or goes to shit as things settle in. The act of putting it on a lift and letting it back down might have exacerbated it. I'd cut the dealer a little slack.

Alignment and wheel balance is covered for 1yr/12,000.

 

I’d rather pay out of pocket to have my trans filled than let the teenage lube monkeys at the dealership touch or drive my vehicle. Not sure how a trans fill could effect the steering wheel alignment, unless those monkeys took it for a test drive.

 

Could it just be due to road crown? Are you having to steer a little towards the center of the road? Or, are we talking you that your wheel is pointed to the A pillar while driving straight through a parking lot...

Why would they go out of their way to mess with your alignment? Time is money...
I guess the tech might have hit a curb or something else when they were doing donuts on the test drive, but I highly doubt they did anything extra while in the shop.

yeah it’s understandable. I’ll get it checked out. I just felt like it was odd to pick up the truck like that, after they filled my transmission up. But maybe you’re right about it being lifted then dropping it back down. Triggered it to set off alignment. Hopefully it’s just that. Thank you.

 

Alignment is covered for 1 year. We do lots of them.

Sometimes its due to how the truck was strapped to the trailer.

 

It was driving fine before I took it to them about the transmission fluid being low.

 

It's covered regardless. They wouldnt touch the tie rods for a fluid check.

Well guys, I got the alignment done today. It ended up being off a little bit. They fixed that. But it’s still not centering after I turn the wheel. What could it possibly be?
