But more to your question. I have a 2018. Only things I lost was the info in the cluster, and the compass in the cluster. Everything else is in the headunit still.

The Joying model you have, is that the only model that will fit/work with a 3rd Gen Tacoma or will their newer 11.6in be compatible?

The other ones work, the one I have just happens to fit in the dash like a factory radio does. I wanted my system to be as OEM looking as possible.

Awesome Thanks for letting me know.

That is what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure if their harnesses matched up with the other units. I don't think I have seen any videos of other Joying models installed in Tacoma besides the one you have.

I don't plan to add a sub anytime soon and I would rather sell my Factory OEM Parts on Ebay and not have to buy a $200 LOC to fix the OEM signal.

Apparently selling the OEM will pay for over half of the system that I plan to install. Some people are trying to sell the 2020 OEM for $1500 through 3k as a 2016-2019 upgrade. That is kind of crazy because I know the 2016-2019 OEM sounds 3x better.

Also I wanted to bring this up, since it goes against everything I learned back in the day.

Kicker says the best option is to NOT use the RCA on the HU.

They say to use the speaker leads. Video is from 2017.

I have a 2022 OR and I’m replacing the TRASH factory speakers and adding an Alpine KTA-30FW mini amp to Help the factory stereo run the replacement speakers. Just wanted to share some of the photos for future reference by others as I could not find them when I searched.CD807182-A126-4DD3-9471-8AA7EF371A55.jpg 208E343A-5526-4F66-8947-1F1D8D1E0B35.jpg

What speakers did you use? I looked at that amp. Good choice. More power than a lot of the other "mini" amps

One more thing. If you wanted to use the tweeter that came with the components you would need the tweeter wire adapter. Right now you're just using the woofer which is fine.

Is that all thats needed to get the system to sound good? Specifically the rear speakers?

It sounds way, WAY better after the install! I had to turn the Amp gain down lower than expected to get the hissing to stop from the speakers when there was no audio playing. The 6x9s in the front doors sound better than the 6 3/4 in the rear doors. Using the Subaru tweeters with these components made the wiring simple. No remote turn-on wire needed with this Amp either because it senses sound input and turns on. I'm pretty happy with the outcome of this project.

Where did you get your power for this amp? If you used the OEM head unit, which wire did you tap in to?

You'll be running to the battery with the amp he used. 10G with a 30A fuse.

Thanks for the reply. I read the manual after I posted the question. It sounds like a good amp. I was looking at the 455u first.

I see now I'd need a 30 amp fuse for this along with a 10g wire. thanks for your reply.

If you order from Crutchfield they have a discount wiring kit that comes with the Amp and includes everything you need (power wire, ground, 30A fuse and holder etc). One other thing I forgot to mention is that this Amp fits snugly up under the facfory stereo.

I was wondering if this would fit in the dash. The man wants close to 900 dollars to install this amp. I can do it for around 500 with all parts from Crutchfield. As you can guess, I never installed an amp before.

I was worried about the same thing but once I pulled the radio wire bundle out of the dash, put the Amp under there and then fitted the wires back in over it; there was plenty of room for it. At first it does not look like it will fit but don't worry, it will.
