Fucked around and turned a CV swap into a full afternoon project

Spent way too long separating the lbj. Spare axle didn't have a dust boot or circlip, cool, I'll just separate the old ones. Spare axle was wrapped in black tape to protect the spines. Cool, spend 30 minutes cleaning the residue with acetone. Didn't even matter, the spined end was mushroomed enough that I had to hammer the hub on. Hope it's a lifetime CV and hub

I've put this manual hub assembly together 100 times over the last 12+ years and I still can't remember which goddamn way the spring goes.

 

Need to drop the skid and change the diff fluid too. Bleh

 

lol, I already have a full set of 4.56 diffs in my parts cabinet. That's even the right ratio for that truck.

If only I had the space or motivation to do a 4x4 swap. It would be a fun project.

guy on the 1st gen Taco FB page trying to say v6 manual trans 1st gens (Xtra cab) are a rare find, say what? I feel like there are almost as many manuals as there are autos with the 1st gen.

It was a 4x4 listing he was commenting on, '98 I think. But yeah the v6 5 lugs arent common for sure

 

I knew it was going to happen, but now I've started seeing super wide-stance Broncos around town.
They're wide as shit from the factory...having your tires way out beyond the factory flares is beyond me. Just out here trying not to fit in lanes or parking spots.
