New to me MT! Less concerned with trim level, I was looking for a DCLB MT with premium audio. Then I found out you can’t get a long bed or premium audio with a MT. What a bummer! That would be the perfect truck for me. Anyway I started refining my search and found this one. Showed up at the dealer, looked behind the rear seat, behold, oem audio plus installed. So I had to buy it. Everything I wanted minus the long bed. Glad to be a new forum member.

That's one big reason I got a ACLB MT!!

 

You can get premium audio with an MT from the factory. Toyota's web configurator is stupid, only shows what's currently in production or being queued up. (As far as what options it allows you to configure together)

 

I would have loved an ACLB! I have a 4 and 7yo so the dc was was necessary. I prefer the look of an ac. I’m a two door whore. You know what they say, 4 doors, more chores.

 

Forum members and a bit of researched confirmed you cannot get premium audio and MT. You can, as my new truck has listed in the build sheet, get “entune premium audio” but that is not a speaker upgrade it’s the head unit upgrade, a little bit misleading I think. No JBL available with MT. I could be missing something but a bunch of forum members educated me on it. I found this build with the “entune premium audio” option via vin search. It got me very interested in the vehicle because I wasn’t seeing any with premium audio option and I really wanted the upgrade. I posted it on the forum and some folks filled me in. I was a bit bummed about that but went to see the car anyway. I spent the night before researching how to upgrade it myself. Learned about it, watched install and review videos, learned about the oe plus system for Tacoma. Then, I showed up to the lot to find that the previous owner installed the eom audio plus system! That was what tipped me over into buying it. It was a Christmas Miracle on Toyota street.

 

Sorry, no, I tried, you cannot have a manual transmission and premium audio.

 

Premium is the larger 8” head unit. You can get that. What you can’t get is JBL which is the amplified setup. It’s misleading to offer both premium and JBL, the names make it sound like they would be the same.

 

Love my AC MT Tacoma! I look forward to driving it again when the salt is gone...................

 

Yup. Premium head unit gives you more headroom to go bonkers with the speakers (although I didn't realize that didn't come with any speaker upgrade at all)

Driving it in the winter is what it's for though. A little fluid film and you're on your way.

 

Sorry, no, that does not qualify as Premium Audio, per the Toyota web site, Premium Audio is "Premium JBL Audio", and it is definitely NOT something one can order with a manual transmission.

 

It really does say “premium entune” yet it isn’t … same speakers as an sr5

 

You can get Premium Audio in the MT, it's the upgraded head unit, you cannot get JBL

 

But you can upgrade the non-jbl easier than the jbl for overall better result.

What are you running?

 

DS tweeters, kicker front door speakers and a 10” kicker powered sub behind the pass seat in the back

 

Alright, those that did clutch, how much play is okay play at the shaft where TOB bearing is? Mine has tiny play when new TOB is seated.


3rd clutch in 103K miles, but it’s on stock gears and 37s and gets beaten to death…


Thoughts?

 

While at it, resurfacing flywheel for the second time is okay I assume? I know, I know, I need gears…

 

Hey, Folks.

A bit over 85k now.

I got a chirp that I thought was an engine pulley. Actually, the little bird is living in the bell housing. Sucks!

It is super quiet right now. Like a chickadee. How long would I have? Seeing a YT vid put some of my worries at ease about the swap. Just planning out the work and looking for a good day to do it.


Edit: This is my first automotive clutch problem. Kinda surprised about it. I did some work on bike multi-plate dry clutches.

Ducati, but mainly basket wear stuff.

Ural with what appeared to be no heat treat on the drive splines.
