Greg Pappa was saying on the radio that he was ineligible due to a lack of 4.5 speed. My first thought was just tackle the first receiver, duh. It did seem the most desperate or desperation plays I can recall.

How long until Skip Bayless eats his crow?

 

He’ll blame Dak for being himself instead of the flipped switch version Skip predicted. There are only a few quarterbacks each generation you can lean on heavily and even those can’t win without a run game. Bayless is a midget with a big mouth.

 

This formation reminded me of the Colts 4th down conversion formation against New England years ago. I think it was a snapper and running back v 6 defensive lineman

Shanahan says Purdy has the most poise for a rookie he has ever coached. Granted, he has a good team around him, but his performance under pressure bodes well for the Niners future.

Whoever picks the Quarterbacks for Dallas should stop picking quarterbacks.

 

I think Jerry Jones is at the top of the list for problems in Dallas.

Shanahan understands that passes risks pics no matter how good the QB and that unless you are blessed with generational talent at the position a balanced attack should be the upper limit on passes in order to keep the defense from keying on either. Not throwing isn’t always a sign of lack of confidence in the QB it can be a sign of success in the running game. Walsh understood that success with either can be used to augment the success of both and used his players talents to bring that about with the “west cost” style of offense. Success around the line of scrimmage made it easier for Rice to beat DB’s on deep patterns. The combination of talents and style led to his incredibly prolific career.
Lynch and Shanahan have put together a team less dependent on hard to predict individual QB skills and more on an overwhelming array of talented weapons and defenders. Rather than put an average QB in an untenable situation and lament his shortcomings they do everything possible to improve the situation. Everyone else around the league keeps searching for the next generational QB while the Niners began looking for an intelligent, accurate, unflappable one with a decent arm.

 

I was a Cowboys fan until I moved to a city with a team (go Chiefs) but I was never impressed with Jerry. If the Vikings hadn’t made the Walker trade with them in 1989 (worst trade in NFL history, maybe sports history, possibly world history) then they may not have won those 3 titles in the 90’s.
