I don't curl my dough around like that.

    I will next time, though.

I've done that a couple times. It actually frustrated me more than the rewards of the outcome so I don't do it anymore :D

Got more pizzas shipped out from Chicago. These ones weren’t as good as the last but I also got this sweet pizza cutter so my lines are straighter! Think I’m gonna have to start making my own in order to make this economically viable.629E1169-73FF-49C2-A4B2-051B7A68982E.jpg

Jokes aside, regular pretzels would have been fine, but we have guests with kids.

Love them, but storing and cleaning just ain't worth it for how often I use my wheel. I've also seen people butcher pies with those, I don't care about straight lines. Give me roughly similar size pieces more important than straight lines.

 hey - never know until you try. Tried making my own tofu a couple weeks ago, talk about not worth it!

It is the only way I can cut a circle pie into somewhat even wedges and it lays flat in my drawer so it isn't too bad

I also wipe the pizza gunk off as soon as I use it so that cleaning doesn't become difficult; I cut em on the counter so I wipe that ASAP too - once that cheese starts to melt/dry it permanently fuses with whatever it is on

Storing the peel on the other hand is kinda a pain - for now it is against the backsplash, pinned by my stand mixer which keeps it out of the way but still isn't the best

Storage is more what I was getting at, mostly. I'm sure they're easy enough to clean, probably make some that you can toss in the dishwasher too.

Depending on your counter material - a metal bench scraper is awesome. I use it on my granite tops, and have used it on my wooden cutting boards/older wooden countertops before too. That thing doesn't hold back, but it might not be the best for all countertops.

I have most of my kitchen tools in a wide drawer and as long as I jiggle things around - it works; but I can see what you are saying, it is an odd shape and kinda big but at least mostly flat. Wouldn't fit in my official kitchen junk drawer for sure.

I have quartz countertops and they seem to take most every bit of abuse I have doled out over the past 15yr - metal bench scrapers, pizza blade, most heat.. I knead dough on it regularly and scrape it up/clean.
I have only damaged it twice - once I put a way too hot pan by the sink and I think it melted a few bits of the quartz, there is a faint circular pattern where I did this; the second time, I whacked it with the metal portafilter from my coffee maker and made a little divet.

I tend to be hard on tools in general [eg. apply more torque/force is my first instinct] so when we had this house finished, durable and maintenance free counters were an important but expensive feature along with the cabinets to support them.
