Financials are a whole 'nother conversation. I'll just leave this here and maybe it can help:

Nice! Does Southwest have a flow from Skywest now? Are you going to be a part of Destination 225?

9/10 flights I take are SWA out of OAK lol. I wonder if I've been on any of yours :spy:

That’s cool. I didn’t know that. How long do you have to serve at Skywest before you’re in class at Southwest?

Hello everyone, I’m currently looking for some fixed wing time-building opportunities and willing to split costs. I’m an active duty USCG helicopter pilot with commercial single engine fixed, hoping to add up hours for the ATP. Thanks!

Thanks for what you do each day. The conditions you go through at times is just crazy. Pretty cool to legitimately save lives. :hattip:

I wish I could help but I'm a bit too far away.

Thanks for the support! It’s very rewarding and sometimes still terrifying. After 20 years I’m ready to transition to a different kind of flying. Need to get a multi add on and another 150 hours of FW PIC.

oooo ... you're close. Damn I wish we we're closer. Hopefully something interesting will popup for you.

I hope everyone that's reading this understands a multi-decade helo pilot, with good equipment and training, is still terrified at times ... and they all still launch.

Sir, you have some stories. Speaking for many of us we would enjoy anything you're willing to share. Be safe.

EDIT: just looking for the funny stories, they are the one's that stick best.

To be honest, I don’t know the details. I just know multiple colleges, a couple regionals, and the 225 program can lead to a job at SWA. I’m not a great salesman.

Odds are good. I’m there a lot…..about 800+ hours a year out of OAK!

For what it is worth, I am not a SWA pilot but previously had roles in the training and recruiting department at another operator and I can offer this advice: At this stage in your career - take the training seriously, study and prepare for everything Be a sponge, absorb it all. Once you finish flight school and start the next chapter - work towards achieving any and every extra-curricular accolade you can, they will help in the long run - for starters get a degree if you don't already, and this might be a couple years down the road but take on other roles such as recruiting, training department, ProStands or mentorship, volunteering... Those will help become a more well rounded pilot, as well as boost your resume.

Good luck, and be sure to stop and enjoy the ride along the way.
