Welcome. Nice Truck. Was it on the lot or did you have to wait?

Just found this thread. Just drove back from Sun Peaks Resort today. Easy drive through Rogers Pass other than how dirty the truck is now (this image is from Dec 23rd). Car wash first thing tomorrow.

Looks awesome. Are you running dedicated snow & ice tires there?

I ordered it in September...wasn't expecting it until March/April, but it arrived Nov 30. So that I could try minimize the lead-time within reasonable options, I talked with the dealer pre-order to determine what would be longer or shorter on the supply chain scale. I was told the higher end vehicles (TRD OR and Pro) and anything with blind spot warning sensors were much longer lead times. I opted for the SR5 and added a few options . I will also be adding some aftermarket options to bring it up to snuff.

Yes I am. Black Iron Tomahawk rims with Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires. IMO, best winter tire you can buy.

Yes, Ive heard good things about them. If I lived in the interior I think I would have dedicated snow/Ice tries too.

Did they stick to full MSRP? Also, did they try and stick you with un-needed ad -ons? In Oct 2020 I bought mine for full MSRP over the phone as it was sitting on the lot. they had a last minute shipment of 6 2020 TRD Sport DCLB. 2021’s were arriving shortly. Just what I was looking for. When I called they were only down to 2. Black or White was my 2 choices. No crappy ad-ons and was done in a couple of hours. Never even test drove it or any other 1-3rd gen. Just based on my brand new 1992 toyota truck owner experience. Opted for White. Really wanted a TRD Off road DCLB but they don’t offer them in the Canadian market. I would have been happy with a SR5 as well. Last new truck so, I thought what the hell. Very, very happy still.

Prior to placing the order, I had been talking with the dealer since June. I researched the build on-line,& talked with the dealer so that I could avoid the big-delay items. Summer came and went and I finally built up what I wanted, and only what I wanted...prices never changed. The build was based on 2022 prices, but I got a 2023 and they honored that pricing.
Nothing unwanted. No extras. No pressure. It was the best dealer experience I've ever had. I got the "friends & family" treatment as I was referred by a good friend/ corporate client of the dealers (I know....isn't that what they all promise?). I'd buy there again.

    Care to name the dealer?

Building a relationship with the dealer is always beneficial. I've bought three vehicles over the years through Heartland in Williams Lake and found them very good to deal with.

    Absolutely....great service deserves recognition.
In my case it was West Coast Toyota (Pitt Meadows, BC). It was my first time dealing with them. It may be that the high level of service I received was (at least partially ) due to my buddy's involvement, or they are just THAT good! They've got my support!

Hey BC gang, does anyone know how to run CarPlay on a 2020 OR? I’m trying to help my dad to get it going on his truck but can’t seem to figure it out.

He’s got a 2nd gen iPhone SE running iOS 16.2

well… firstly you need to plug the phone into the USB in the dash. I’m assuming Apple CarPlay is available on the SE that you dad has.

Once you plug in, you may need to navigate to the audio menu and select USB. CarPlay should show up as an option in the audio menu on the left side after that. Should anyway.

Updating my first BC roll call post from 2020...that Tacoma, 2018 TRD Sport, is now my son's truck and I have a 2023 TRD Sport DCSB 6MT. Was fortunate to be at the right place at the right time, a pre-owned vehicle with only 12,800 kms; the original owner liked the idea of a manual transmission for about 9 months before trading it for an automatic! Have been tweaking the vehicle to my liking over the past month, think I am pretty much done for now though, ready for the road.

Welcome! Nice truck and good call on 6MT!

By looking at your picures (lack of snow) I am assuming you are not in Prince George? I saw a truck around here identical to the one in the pictures for sale at honda dealer for like 55K.

    Here is my little tank:

Haha, yes Vancouver is pretty balmy and wet right now...no snow and still above freezing! Your truck is the same as my first Tacoma, a grey 2018 TRD Sport DCSB with a manual transmission. Looks like yours is a hard working truck though, mine was mostly recreational and only a little work! Thanks for the welcome to TW.
