Everyone is different, obviously not everyone finds them to be a 'problem'.
Agreed! But a Toyota Tacoma (in either engine) isn't. If you want a 'fast truck' you go buy one of the ones you listed above. As also stated, it comes down to personal preference. I personally didn't buy my 2.7l to complain that its "too slow".

It can be a little messy. Drain plus is pointing down comes out quick if it’s any type of warm but not to bad.

There is one for sale right next to my house at carmax. I’m not sure if I should buy it at 30K usd @40K miles. Should I?

I have been searching for 3 months and this is only one I could find nationwide.

I’m hesitant because of the price. I bought my v6 TRD OR MT for 34K back in 2017.

the gas mileage at 21/19 is pretty crappy albeit it is a 4x4.

wish I could find a 2wd if it was offered. My gx460 is a better 4x4 than the 3rd gen Tacoma.

    Hmmm, $30,000 sounds rather overpriced.

What motor are you looking at but seems a bit much but also how come you’re thinking of buying another taco if you had one in the past. Also why do you say the Lexus has a better 4x4. I definitely put this truck thru some crazy snow.

Even short wheel base Tacomas are too long for some obstacles. Also, departure angle on a stock Tacoma sucks.

The only time I hate my 2.7 is when I'm going up hills in the Sierra's. I had it floored on the hill up to Lake Sabrina and I was going like 34 LOL

Other than that I'm at 115k with 0 issues.

It'll last you too long and you'll get bored. You'll have nothing to add when everyone else on TW is complaining about the holographic steering wheel and how the new 4,000 HP laser fusion engine really lacks the bottom-end ball grunting of the real trucks they drove in high school back in 1874.

it’s already been sold. That was very quick. I saw it for sale for only 2-3 days.

Just like the hype saying the 2gr 3.5L is as reliable as the 2.7L i4 lol

Understood. I purchased my Tacoma in Idaho when I lived in Vegas, it was pretty painless and cost effective. Then driving it to & registering it in PA was even easier.

I really should have jumped on the 2017 2.7 MT at carmax. It’s gone now.

I’m just really looking for a commuter/daily truck.

I am driving a 1.8 2020 Corolla 6spMT right now. I really don’t like it at all. Sure, it’s probably more practical/economical, but I don’t care. I like driving trucks.

I borrowed a friend's Mazda 3 6MT while I was in Seattle for two weeks. Very practical, nimble city car. Still prefer my truck, even though it feels like a dump truck in comparison.

I took off an air dam once
30k for a 2.7 AC seems nuts, . Granted this was pre-covid but i paid 22k otd for my 2016 2.7 AT with 32k miles on it in 2019….crazy how times have changed lol i personally just cant see the value in that when i can go grab a 3.5 DC Taco or 4runner with maybe a few more miles for close-ish to that. Give it a few more months and i bet you will see prices fall a bit more, maybe interest rates go down a tad too.
