I have owned 4 Tacomas; 1996, 2011, 2016, 2019. All have been short beds. Starting the search for a new one. Are Long beds more difficult to locate? Everything that you see in lots are short beds. Thank in advance.

I would say it all depends on where you are searching.

In a game of hide and seek. The long bed would be easier to locate. :anonymous:

I am on my second long bed and had no issues getting them.

They are not as abundant as short beds, but not that difficult to find.

My first tacoma was a longbed. It was harder to find a cement shortbed OR back when I searching in 2019.

I managed to get a meeting with the dealership inventory manager to get my name attached to a truck before the 2016 line had even started…and I still didn’t get it until December.

DCLBs (at my dealership) were being sold before they were even built - let alone arrived at the port.

I’m really liking the aesthetics of the long bed at this time. Additionally, I think the extra length would allowI me to haul a mountain bike with a tailgate pad without having to remove the tonneau cover. I’m sure the are other benefits to the long bed as well.

Agreed, everything at my dealership is sold before it arrives on the lot.

Yes, whether its a double cab/long bed or access cab/long bed they are hard to find. Toyota sells so much more double cab/short beds so that's mainly their production focus.

Yes they are. Short beds are everywhere.

Just do a search on cargurus.com and longbeds are outnumbered 7 to 1

    Yes.

Been there, done that: They are nearly impossible to find: Phantom, Unicorn, Yeti...... Rumor is Toyota only made one per dealership, moved them from one to another and when they were gone, they were gone. Anyone who does score one puts it in a barn and waits for the American Pickers crew to show up.

Seriously: I looked for one for six months. I wanted the 140.9" wheelbase. Forget it: nothing to see here....these aren't the droids you're looking for.... Move along. I settled for a 5' and coped by telling myself I'd never really have a requirement that needed a 6' bed, it would fit in the garage better....yada yada yada.... blah blah blah.... "bullxxxx" :censored:

When I brought the truck home my better half asked me my I didn't spring for the longer wheelbase 6' bed version.

I ended up with mine by pure happenstance. I would have initially preferred another shortbed, but I realllly wanted the quicksand color. I was driving a 2016 DCSB in gray, and I happened to see a 2020 DCLB in quicksand, fully optioned show up on the dealer's site one day. I didn't really want the long bed (now that I have it, I absolutely love it) so I told my GF I was going to drive down and take a look. She said to me, "take your title cause you're gonna buy a truck."

I assured her I was not going to buy a new truck.

I did in fact buy a new truck that day.

Luckily for you, they never had to make a port. All the 2016's were made in the US, I believe.
