I'd be very careful in you're shoes, those chain saws have a mean bite.

"Approximately 36,000 chainsaw injuries occur annually, based on data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). These accidents very rarely lead to deaths but may lead to amputation or hospitalization"

    Dude! Lmao!

The point is. you can loose it all real fast, but it may take a lot longer to climb back up.

Or did you missed the physics class too? You know, about gravity? What goes up must come down?

An object goes up slower because it’s fighting against gravity, but it comes down with a vengeance because gravity is pushing/accelerating it down.
This is the reason smart short sellers exits and make a killing in the markets. They understand gravity. And Imagine that, it works there too.

Then clearly you are not a student of history, when market corrections happen, and they've "happened" many times in my lifetime, those are the very best times to invest.

Please tell me where I said we were at the bottom? The smart investor invests while markets are going down as well as up.

The smart investor factors his tax liability into the equation and acts accordingly. And I didn’t say you said, but I digress nuff already

Recently, I sold my 2019 Tacoma for a good price. However, the dealers in FL are charging way over MSRP for new trucks. Can't see paying $50,000+ for a new Tacoma at this time.

I ended up with a new Rav4, but still paid well over MSRP.

I saw a new survey the other day that said all automakers have put themselves into a deep hole.
It said that average price of a new vehicle was far above the average affordability rate, and their future maybe in jeopardy. We’ll have to see, but the herd might just get thinner.

We’re at MSRP if you’re local. Invoice if you have a trade on top. We don’t sell out of state.

... coming back to the initial threat - it took me three months to find MY Tacoma. Lazy and incompetent dealers wanted to sell me A car, not MY car.

Lots of internet research (including TacomaWorld), lots of frustration about the dealers not taking sold Tacomas of their website, tons of greedy dealers (up to $9000 dealer adjustment), nonsense like "we don't sell out of state" and "you have to drive the car off the lot tomorrow"- so what do I need dealers for if I have to do the research and find MY Tacoma myself via internet? If I invest $50K+, I really want to get what I am looking for!

Finally flew to VW to work with an honest, competent, and decent dealer and drove MY new Tacoma back 20h to TX. No dealer adjustment either.

Addressed that with Toyota HQ in Plano - they don't seem to care that folks turn their back on Toyota. The "build your Tacoma" function on the Toyota website is useless - after you know what you want you still have to find that exact car on your own.

Lessons learned: do your research, know exactly what you want, know how to look US wide, and be prepared to travel for your Tacoma!
No worries, the dealers will harvest the fruit of their actions soon ...

Exactly why I ordered... If I'm paying 50K for a truck! It better be what I want exactly, not what a stealership is trying to pawn off.

    Yeah.
Just doing some math here to avoid working.

If I start with $10K in the bank earning 2.5% APR compounded monthly, I make $1,330 over 5 years. If I take out a loan for $10K at 3% interest, I pay $781 in finance charges. My net gain by using financing is $549.

If I take that $10K and pay cash, and then pay myself monthly what a 3% loan would be, and earn 2.5% on top of that, I end up netting $611. This is the slightly better option based on these rates and the term, and assumes I actually do pay myself.

But all things being equal, if your return on investments is higher than the cost of the loan, taking out the loan is likely the better option.

My truck loan was at 0%. That's free money. Dumb not to take that deal. I get that some people just don't want to have a loan payment, but that's a personal preference and has nothing to do with math. Using the above example, having access to that $10K if needed might just be worth the $62 difference.

Back on topic: The only vehicle I've paid MSRP for is my daughter's RAV4, since her 4Runner was totaled during the chip shortage. All others have been well under MSRP. It would be nice to see those days again, and hopefully I won't need a new vehicle until things get back to normal. I think it depends on your location, but here they were not doing market adjustments and they pretty much stopped doing those overpriced dealer or port add-ons since the cars come straight off the truck and get delivered. They had nothing on the lot and you had to pay a deposit to get one of their allocations.

They are just prepping for ‘okay, we won’t put them on’ for when peeps bitch about it. If you squeak, then they haven’t wasted the work yet. If you don’t squeak, they show up during make ready.

    At least that’s my theory.
