All I'm anxious to find out is whether or not they'll build an access cab :(

Would be nice to see them move BSM up into the tail lights and out of the bumper.

I think this will be the end of Tacoma reliability. All of this electronic crap is going to break and be extremely annoying and expensive to fix. A turbo engine isn’t going to last as long as the current NA engines either. Probably will need expensive premium gas too.

You make a potentially compelling argument, but it’s also the same argument that was made in 2015 as well. Now all of a sudden the 2023 Tacoma is so simple and classic.

But it’s still a compelling argument.

What do you mean? The third gens don’t have a ton of electronics or a turbo?

Turbo no, but people talk about all the electronics in the newer trucks all the time. Smart key, TSS, and so on.

My point is that perspective always shifts once you get used to something for a while, that’s all.

They are still more complex than prior generation having port and direct injection, self cleaning injectors, high and low pressure fuel pumps.

I’m not talking about getting used to it. I’m talking about reliability and keeping a truck for 200,000+ miles. I don’t see that happening at least not without expensive repairs.

I really hope this “new from the ground up” Tacoma is not an epic snooze fest that got cost cut to use yet another minivan engine.
The new Colorado is seriously nice … from an engine perspective in particular.
310hp 430tq are the numbers to beat. Or at least come close.
240-60hp and 330tq would be an utter disappointment.

So the EV concept has a tailpipe, while the patent render doesn't

By the way, that picture of the EV concept was a render. This was the actual model. Proportions are less exaggerated:
