    Kimo had a vet appointment today. Normal stuff, just some blood work. I figured I'd get his nails trimmed while he was there.

    VCA uses the automotive service model. You call and make an appointment for the "service" you need. When you get there, you approve the repair order and they try and upsell. So I get the treatment plan/repair order, and it's $65 to trim! I politely declined. Sorry bro, we're gonna run you on the sidewalk for a bit (not that they are too long either, just a little tuneup).

    If you ask at Day Care, it's $5...

    I have no idea how much our groomer charges to trim our dog's nails because it's included with his haircuts but the whole haircut and everything with it is only $65...

    And the groomer washes and blow dries with a fancy scarf at the end :) I'm sure a lot of it is "we don't want to do that"...but if you don't, just say so.

    Yeah.
    My vet back when I lived in MO offered to trim my male Shiba's nails for free -- he saw it as a challenge. He got it done, not without a fight, but was surprised when he didn't get the "Shiba Scream" (it's a real thing, but I've only gotten it once). Our female is a bit better about her paws being touched, but the male does not tolerate it one bit. His front nails are a bit longer than I'd like, but not terrible. The female just wears hers down doing zoomies in the back yard.

    These paws shall not be touched.
