Considering how much of a hard on the feds get for crushing a 2000 Mini Cooper and other random uninteresting illegally imported cars, I guarantee those Jimnys won't last long.

I see modern Hiluxs driving around with Texas plates occasionally but I bet they're just using random Texas plates they had on hand illegally.

I can't imagine how that must feel right now, I'm really sorry to hear about this :(

I know I'm late to this but I would look to see if you can have anything done at home; I know when I lost Jacquee, Rocky (my cousins dog) would often look for her. Just sniff around, and walk about the place over and over completely ignoring everyone and everything around her as if confused cause she was nowhere to be found. I don't know if the sudden disappearance was worse but I would say if you have to put her down, maybe in the company of family would be in her best interest.

Thank you again guys for your input, just got home from the hospital. Her levels didn't improve and are still 5x the normal limit, they recommended putting her down right then. Thankfully I found a company called "Lap of Love" that is local and will do in home euthanasia. They had a local doctor with an appointment available tomorrow so I scheduled it

Having her home tho is so hard cause she's not acting in pain at all even still bright eyed and bushy tailed.... but I know it's time because she's still refusing to eat even with being given an appetite booster.

I can't say goodbye tomorrow, I'm going to call them back in the morning and see if I can push it off for just one more day

I actually have experience both ways but with different pets. For a cat I don't think I would bring it with, unless they were unusually bonded for cats. I remember my parents' cats were well into their teens when they started having issues. One kind of just passed, and the other had to be given fluid injections for another two years before he passed. It's my opinion that the cat is much less likely to understand what's going on at the vet than a dog. And they get much more traumatized with travel, so they'll likely be in survival mode and not be paying attention anyway.

When I was in high school, our two dogs got out. We didn't realize they were gone until an hour later and went searching for a while. My dad finally found one when he took the car out on the main road. She had gotten hit and killed nearly instantly. The guy who hit her was able to identify which direction the other ran. My dad eventually caught up with her. So the scenario was that they had traveled together down the street and Bella (the survivor, who's still hanging around today), was with Chloe when she was hit. Bella never went around looking for Chloe after that - she knew what happened. We also never had issues with her running out after that - and she had always been the instigator.

Ya...was traumatic for all of us really. (mom, brother, sister too)

I remember jogging down to the guy who pulled over and I think he was worried I was going to deck him.

Edit: oh and I didn't see the at-home thing before. I think that's a good alternative and I wish you all well. This sucks :(

I should prob check on the condition of the wrapped up one in case I ever actually need it.

That's sad to hear it's going to have be done so soon, but it's great that you found a place so you can do it at home. It is harder when they seem like they're fine, I totally get that, just try and enjoy that last day with her.
