I keep seeing these comments but it makes no sense to me.

Yes, 4 door pick ups are very popular. Not because of adventure vehicle craze or ppl want SUVs with beds.

Let’s say you must have a truck bed for whatever reason but also need rear seats to transport people. That makes it a perfect vehicle for that purpose right. 4 door pickup truck is very versatile thus making it a very popular option.

I’ve had AC pick up, it was great, but at times I really wished I had more room in the back seat area. 5ft vs 6ft box makes no difference unless you are planning to sleep in the bed or transport bikes/ATVs with tailgate closed.

Or use it for work. I filled the bed on my old job's fleet vehicle (2012 AC Prerunner) all the time at my old job.

You can use 5ft bed for work just like you can use 6ft bed, makes no difference whatsoever.

If we talking about “proper” 10ft long bed vs short 6ft bed then yes.

I didn't haul junk, so, no, that's actually incorrect.

Full disclosure: Shell needed to be locked with the tailgate up 90% of the time due to federal regulations for transport of radioactive materials.

I believe the 6' bed will still be on the next gen, however the smaller suicide access door will probably be replaced for a micro regular door like the SR version of the Tundra. So there will be the SR smaller rear doors and the regular full size rear doors from SR5 trims going forward.

22% longer is not an insignificant difference, and that, combined with a 6MT, is what steered me toward a TRD Sport, even though I'd really like to have ATRAC and a rear locker. Admittedly, if I only needed to haul junk and trash I would have gone with the short bed and the extra passenger space I don't need.

Anyway, regarding the topic, this shows how few ACs are available compared to the DCs, at least in the decent trim levels.

It really comes down to the owner's needs.

No right or wrong choice. I've owned both models.

    Waste of bandwidth thread.

I like the idea, but I can't figure how you'd easily access the space behind the seats without being able to move the seat forward, or tip it in some way.....the reason for those doors.

As far as having to haul a bunch of stuff like that, I'll use my 5x10 utility trailer for it.

Would love to get a trailer but I live a condo. I don’t even have room to store my tools/outdoor stuff. Most of it is at my parents house. Not fun.

Agree, my last truck (‘98 Dakota) required me to move the seats forward to get anything in or out of the back and it was a pain. I love the AC doors.

For me and many others, they're really mostly wants at this point rather than needs. As much as I think I should have standard bed capacity, I'm not going to be loading up on 4'x8' sheets of plywood _every day_ at Lowe's. So I could make do with a 5' bed. Bed and cab aside, I wouldn't mind seeing a list of exactly what I'm giving up mechanically by getting a TRD Sport 6MT 4x4 instead of a TRD Off Road 6MT 4x4

It is needs, for both domestic and commercial tasks.
