Tailgate "freezes" shut

    I live in NH also and mine freezes shut all the time. :eek:

    Can't say it has even happened once since I bough the truck in Dec 2016. I have a inexpensive TonnoPro soft tri-fold cover that leaves the top plastic of the tail gate exposed ~2". I have never locked it the tailgate either, no need and I open it daily for work.

    I may and I mean maybe, kinda, sorta - get one night a year if lucky, to have the truck in the garage. That is for the tractor and Wifey's car

    It's always the touch free car washes, with the high pressure sprayers, that cause my latches to freeze.
    It isn't that the tailgate was locked and the lock release is frozen, it's that water gets inside the latches and freezes them solid.

    if a "Water-Displacement-40" oil is freezing, you've got much larger issues. first of all being the fact that you live in northern russia!


    mine routinely freezes while parked at work. i park it in the garage at home and it usually warms up enough to un-freeze.
