So far driving from Everett south to downtown Seattle and back I have averaged 23mpg. 3/4 tank and have 130 miles on the trip meter. I will update when I hit 1/2 tank. Loving the new version so far.

Question for those who like to explore different tunes, has anyone compared this new Pro 9.0 to the Nexus Blackhawk tune?

I'm currently on Blackhawk and like it for the most part. Just curious if anyone has compared the two. I know Nexus is working on some updates so I'm not jumping ship yet, but the feedback here seems overwhelmingly positive.

You are welcome to consider comparing and share your feedback, v9 has never been better than anything prior but that's my experience, we want to know yours ;)

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has used both tunes back to back and which they prefer. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to buy another tune just to try it, but there must be some guys out there who have.

I've tried Blackhawk...I'm here on pro9, suits me better. I'm not sure if there has been releases of BH since I tried it, probably has. All 3 of the popular ones are way better than stock. I have not tried OTT but it has a lot of good reviews too.

I also tried Blackhawk and it produced bad fuel mileage for me. The 9.0 just works best for me. Not all will agree so JMO

I tried Nexus and ended up getting a refund because I could audibly hear detonation. I’ve done lots of driving and towing on Pro 9.0 XT and have nothing but good things to say. I haven’t tried OTT.

Hold up, is that what I’m hearing? After a specific tune, it’s made the engine so much louder. Not bad sounding. Just louder like the throttle plate is opened all the way

Detonation is when the air/fuel mixture prematurely ignites causing extremely high cylinder pressures. It usually sounds like nails being rattled in a can. Not sure what you are hearing without being in the truck and listening in person.

Please be precise on tire size on the calibration. Why ? If your not it will throw your odometer off terribly . I have to track miles through GPS . For example, you want to rotate your tires every 5k, well you might be 5250 ish miles . Can it be that far off ? Yes it can . Again be precise on tire measurements for the calibration.

I used both. KDMAX is well-rounded tune out of box.
Nexus, per your feedback on other thread, needs polishing in a few departments. Also, Nexus Reg gas is not for hilly areas and there are some restrictions to get a power on the hills.
If you live in the flats, you can cross the state in 6th.
As already mentioned, mpgs, knocking in hot weather(supposedly fixed and waiting for the sunshine).

I doubt it’s that, but definitely has gotten louder on fast accelerations compared to before tuning. Again, isn’t bad but doesn’t sound quiet and stock anymore

Gas mileage? I've been running the latest 9.0 tune for a couple of months and the truck runs and drives well, however my mileage is noticably lower than stock. I understand about winter gas but something seems amiss. On my daily consistent commute the mileage seems off about 4 mpg. Just don't see how all you guys are getting better than stock mileage?

I was doing great before the switch to winter gas. I took a big hit getting 20-21 hwy down to 18s.

I've been on v9 since testing pre-release and had several 20+ commutes but I can't touch that now.

I am looking forward to spring with the switch back.

If you want to try an ECU reset and transmission reset, then a re-flash, get with Jacob (@SLEEPYDUB) in Shreveport. There is no charge to get that done. MPG's are very different for everyone, that is why we never guarantee that they will improve. I don't believe a reset and re-flash will hurt.

I would contact your tuner and schedule a reflash. Not many have reported less mpgs prior to the tune except the guys who are heavy on the pedal. A reset and reflash may help improve what your seeing for mpg's.
