    Looks to be 1/8".

I'd be using 3/16" at least.

    20' section shouldn't be more than $70-80

I'll have to figure it out later but maybe someone knows the answer immediately -

Created my DXF and getting it ready for post process.

    Did my setup, check.

During 2D profiling, the text I created inside the object does not appear when I finish my profile. Yet I get no error codes. I was able to choose the letters, the same way I choose the outline.

    Any idea?

@Kwikvette If you see things in CAD and they don't come through in processing for the machine it's likely that the lines of the parts are on one layer and the text is on another. When I draw I usually just use the default 0 layer in AutoCAD but often when I import text it from other software it comes in on Layer 1. All it requires would be a 'Layer match' to place them on the same layer, then re-process the G code.

Alternately, you could process the letters on one layer and cut them first, then open the file with code for the remaining cuts and cut the parts on a second step with the same home point on the machine. That would allow different parameters to be used for cutting details vs basic geometry cutting where you may be able to cut faster for instance vs all the same parameters.

I was a welder/fabricator for two years after a year of formal training, didn’t like shop production life because we were short staffed and overworked. I was never home. So I chased my childhood dream of being a firefighter and now I do odd welding jobs on the side for money.

Ha Ha Ha maybe you should have mentioned your a Fire Fighter !

To me that changes things 180 degrees . No doubt you being paid for your welding was a paper work nightmare .

The powers to be said No No could have been about insurance as well.

I am thinking your being taken advantage of in a dead end low paying job.

I will be laughing when I think of this for days,

I'm new to Fusion 360 but this makes a lot of sense.

Guess I need to figure out how layers work in the program.

But let me ask; is this same principle (of different layers) applicable even though at one point I was able to get one letter to show as part of the 2D Profile (even thought they were all selected)?

Yeah no complaints other than the fact it was tedious. I did like 7 hours of work per day and got paid for 10 each day so it’s all good. And all expendables paid for. The production company is who pays me. My boss doesn’t pay me. He just makes sure I get the hours. Yesterday he came up to me and gave me a couple hundred bucks cash and said “thanks for knocking those things out for me, here’s some cash to take your wife out to a nice dinner”

Is it single line or closed loop text? Reason is likely different for each type.

If its closed loop, in the Design mode did you use the "Explode Text" feature so it extrudes just like the rest of the sign? If not, it won't cut. Go back to design, Edit Sketch, select the text, right click and select Explode text. Just to be sure t's gonna work, me personally I would delete the previous Extrude (Body) and extrude again. This time the text will become part of the body.

    Kwik Example.jpg
    Kwik Example 1.jpg

See how after I Explode, then Extrude, they are part of the Body of the piece.

    Kwik Example 2.jpg

If it's single line text, you just have to make sure it's visible as the last step before you switch from Design to Manufacture. The last thing most people do in Design is Extrude. That hides any single line features. Just after you Extrude, go to the panel on the left and make sure the "Eye" is black, not gray. If gray, click on it.

I usually put single line text on a separate sketch as suggested above. See how they are not visible in pic two. Just have to click on the little Eye before going to Manufacture and they can be cut as a separate cutting setup.

FYI, Langmuir site has a dedicated F360 questions thread you can use also. There are several people who usually reply really quickly:

I never noticed it until you pointed it out. Yeah, it's a bit small.

Still, that's gonna be nice when done!

The head looks to small compared to the rest of the body.

I'll have to read through this again but not sure if you caught it above; it does extrude no problem. It's all there in the profile.

It doesn't however, carry over when creating the cut path simulation which means, no G code to create for said text.

    Life's been keeping me busy.

Needed to deviate a bit and get back to what I intended on doing.

Got the table filled with this stuff from Eastwood as I've heard good things about their fluid additive -

    20230125_154239.jpg

    20230125_143347.jpg

Figured I'd give it a go at a motor mount (customer order) as my first piece. I actually went from DWF file to immediately getting my setup for post process.

Mainly because my friend stopped by as he wanted to watch it in action but needed to leave shortly after-

    https://youtu.be/YTuwA5zT_V8

    The path -

The finished product; I had to knock the holes out as I haven't figured out values for cutting holes yet -

Cut piece next to the actual model -

    They're damn near identical -

Edges are clean as hell after knocking the little dross off -

    Backside too -

Any and all help and criticisms are welcome.

This is my first actual cut with holes, and of something I drew up on Fusion 360 to mimic a motor mount I was able to borrow.

I made a similar drawing on Draftsight but haven't cut that pattern out yet.

I want to comment further, but I think the learning as you advance on your own is more satisfying.

I'm still learning my table and love every minute.

    Yeah no worries!

I absolutely understand there's a lot to learn and experience to gain, just like welding.

I just hope to learn the software side a bit quicker than the current pace as I have homework as well as a big essay due completely unrelated to this stuff.

That and of course life stuff so time is really limited!
