I've posted a video of mine.

As you can hear, the front end had a loud thud, but in the rear going over the bump. It was quiet and smooth. It doesn't sound crazy or whatever in the video, but in person it's mad annoying and sounds brutal..

I did, only bc I had a bad squeak and it was shot already. Didn't improve much in ride quality but rid the squeak noise

Has anybody connected with @eibach on the issue.

I've been in contact with someone about for the 2nd gen but honestly haven't gotten a solid answer. Only that the truck is lighter, try changing the preload or add weight but I doubt that'll change the issue since some of you 3rd gen owners are having the same issue and this suspension is meant for your generation. Waiting to hear back on whether a lighter spring would help.

Don't these coilovers come preloaded from the company?

Yes, they come fully assembled and therefore preloaded from the factory (typically around 1.5"-2" lift). There is adjustment to adjust height and preload increase lift for lean etc. Would need to inquire with Eibach regarding compatibility with 2nd gen. Might be a matter of reducing preload slightly but the 2G are lighter and lower from the factory than 3rd gen.

It would seem to me it is a bumper issue inside the shock. When the shock fully extends, the inner piston hits the cap at the end of the tube. I think there is too little or no cushion between the parts, leading to the noise. I don't believe spring rate, preload or external changes will make a difference.

FWIW I have the 2.0 stage 2 installed in my '19 Sport at a tad over 2 inches with full under armor and an RCI front bumper and have never heard a bump or thunk like in the video above. I did the swap from factory at around 8k miles and the difference was staggering, such a smooth ride! I have zero regrets.

I agree. I hope they get to feel/hear the actual thud from whoever they chose to use to r&d.

I've been on the fence on just going with another brand but waiting out to hear what they say.

I offered to drive out to them a few posts back but they are looking for a 3rd gen and just asked me to email customer service. We'll see, hopefully whoever they went with, reports back to the thread.

I'd love to have one of the Eibach reps ride in my truck with me. I originally emailed them back when they first asked us to a few months ago. At the time, I had the issue every once in a while and since this is my first truck with aftermarket shocks wondered if it was just normal. It's since gotten considerably worse once I adjusted the collars a bit. Even more frustrating is that I can't seem to catch a good representation of the sound on video yet. Sad fact is I'm all the way in Alabama and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't send someone out here to see how these shocks actually perform installed on my truck, though I know we could show them the issue if they would. I want to love these parts, and 90% of the time they ride exactly like I want them to. It's just that harsh slam over large bumps (more "square-edged" or sharper drops - like potholes) that makes me real nervous.

This is what makes it sound like trucks experiencing the issue are topping out either due to not enough down travel (the spring forcefully extending the shock to its limit off of drop-offs), or something internal in the shock that should cushion or dampen the full extension more (valving / not enough oil in the shock?).

All strut assemblies regardless of manufacturer will drop out when the suspension is unloaded. The spring will make sure of that, this is nothing unique to the Eibach strut. I have also not heard of another brand or manufacturer having this type of noise at drop out. My factory suspension didn't do it. I take speed bumps quite quickly... my username is very descriptive of my driving style. This is definitely a valving or an internal bump stop issue. ( I tend to think it is an internal bumpstop issue )

I wish I didn't live 2000 kms away so I could take my truck to Eibach to have them hear it for themselves. I can replicate it anytime I want, I adjust my driving to avoid it though....

Other than this noise I am completely happy with the set up.

Eibach stated everything was fine and in spec, and no issues found with the set I sent to them so.

I dunno, it's strange for sure.

Do you have a replacement set and if so, does it make the same noise?

It's not as bad (placebo?), but yes it's still present.

I also haven't adjusted them at all, I left them as is after install, so maybe that plays a part.

I bought a magnet mount for the GoPro so... Going to see if I can locate the noise.

    To date, I have:
    Added sway relocate
    Removed sway
    Adjust coilovers
    Checked torque
    Swapped out new coilovers

And I still have the slam, on the front passenger side.

Idk if it's a body mounts or something, as some people have no issues, and Eibach claims it's not the assemblies.

Jeez this just keeps getting stranger. If you swapped out new coilovers and it is still doing it then perhaps its not related to the coilovers at all, or something is binding somewhere. It would be interesting to try a different brand (5100s or something) to see if the issue persists with a product from another manufacturer. Funny story when I installed mine with a lot of help from a member here in his shop, I had was almost home an stopped for fuel and when I left I had a horrible grinding noise that was sporadic. It freaked me out and I was taking vids trying to figure it out. It went away and I can only guess that a rock ended up getting in my caliper and grinding against my rotor. I thought it was related to my CV axel since the clamshell bushing was changed. I guess the point being that weird shit can happen and it sucks, but part of modding I guess. I love mine and have zero issues but understand the frustration.

We are still looking for a local with the concern, @Its_Taconie has reached out and I followed up with our team to see where they are in their conversations.

:: personal observation::: What's interesting is that in both videos, if you slow it down to the min .25 speed, and look frame by frame in both videos, any noise starts on compression stroke, not at max droop.

I was just advised to lower the front a bit since the 2nd gen Tacoma's are lighter than the 3rd gen and my truck being 2wd. I haven't done that yet since I have been out of town when I received the email.

Not sure that would fix the issue since @Sand_In_My_Taco has tried various things to find the cause of the problem but trying I guess.
