No, I’m being a homeless bum living in my trailer and charge at the State Park I stay at on the weekends. Most weeks I charge up before leaving Sunday and don’t need a charge again until the next weekend when I tow the trailer back there.

How are you calc’ing that? $4 gas at 15mpg to 3200 miles is like $850 bucks, no? Did it cost you $50 to charge the truck from 0-3200 miles? Also, as a side note, LOL to TRX bros and their 10mpg.

17.5mpg in the Tacoma and 10.9mpg in the TRX, both at an average fuel price of $4.45 from when I was tracking their refuels. It would be cheaper now though since gas prices have gone back down.

If I paid to charge at the public Electrify America DCFCs it would have been about $570 in electricity, not nearly as much in savings.

If someone buys a TRX and worries about how much they are spending on gas, then I've heard it all

I finally got the invitation to schedule my test drive for my wife's R1S. Scheduled for next Wednesday. As much as I despise driving to Denver, I'm kinda excited to see it in person.

If you want to spend more time driving one or looking over one just let me know. Won’t be exactly the same (T vs S) but close enough for a lot of stuff.

Saw this interesting video comparing ICE to EV on a road trip from Denver to Moab.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaMT6QxmHjI

I like their final assessment, it's doable in EV but ICE is easier. Overall, was slightly cheaper to run the ICE vehicle and would have taken significantly less time (e.g. they time how long it took to fill up vs charge). You can see Roman was not at all pleased with the EV, lots of planning involved.

You can see how obnoxiously more efficient an EV is regarding energy usage compared to gas. However, when it costs more in both money or time, does it really matter how efficient it is?

Today was our demo drive for my wife’s R1S. I liked how quiet, smooth and fast it was. (Keep in mind I daily a 33 year old land cruiser lol). The speed was incredible, the lack of sound is odd. On paper, it’s faster than the lambo we rented in Vegas a few years ago, but the quietness of the rivian is just…different.
We were surprised about lack of a few features, like no Apple CarPlay, or voice to text. I-70 wasn’t set up for driver +, wtf? Rear seats can’t control the temp, that has to be changed by the driver or front seat passenger. 3rd row was surprisingly decent. I fit back there (I’m 6’1”). While I wouldn’t want to road trip there, it would totally be manageable for 30-60 minutes.
One pedal driving is nice and I got used to it very quickly.
Rear hatch has quite a bit of room with the 3rd row up. (We used to have a 4R and there was barely any room with the 3rd row up). I LOVE the fold flat entire back. My daughter and I would camp in that thing for sure with the glass roof.
I liked it. But it will be my wife’s daily. So she is struggling with the size increase from her F-pace. I took some pics. The R1S was in its lowest setting in the pic.
She has 6-9 months to decide what she wants to do.

Ocean crest interior on an R1T there at the service center. Out of about 100 vehicles there, this was the only one with ocean crest. Hence our wait…

Are those seats comfortable? They remind me of a dentist’s chair.
