There are a few things that could easily alleviate that pain away.

I had the issue with an F150 with an eco boost and the pedal commander fixed it on that truck. Everyone thought is was turbo lag but it was how the travel of the pedal was being relayed

    Work in progress...
I instinctively put the shifter in sport when I merge on the highway or pull out into traffic. I guess it comes from driving a standard in my early days?

traction control seems to automatically reduce power to my wheels when it's wet out. i thought i was going crazy wondering why my truck was so frickin' slow. I floored it and just crept forward...lol. can spin the wheels when it's dry out though.

No problem my friend. Just trying to figure out how the rain sensor works on these trucks.

i would imagine it kicks in when the wheels slip but i'm pretty sure i never slipped my tires once tonight. so does it have a rain sensor? i wonder... or maybe it uses input from the ABS system?

Ok. In all seriousness, and respectfully, how would the traction control system function on wet pavement (preventing wheel spin) but not function on dry pavement (allowing wheel spin)?

That’s why I was, and still am, confused about your observation.

I’m honestly curious how this could be the case.

Traction control has a couple levels of intervention. Application of the brake to the spinning wheel is usually the first level, if that doesn't solve the issue then it will torque derate. In the rain, the brake application isn't enough to solve the wheel spin so the derate is active. In the dry, the traction is much better so only the brake application is typically required. It is also easier to hear the wheel spin in the dry from the tire squeal.

I still like to think my truck knows when it’s moist.
