    Fuck the Midwest.

It was the tank straps. Can't get the fluid film in there unless you remove all the skids.

My factory ones did that, so I got new from rockauto and they only lasted 2 1/2 yrs so I coated the new ones with por-15 before putting them on.

Will see how long they last this time.

Probably $45k-$75k - troopys command big dollars, especially left hand drive models.

I had another interesting day in the kayak yesterday. I put in at a little beach on an unmarked road that I found a few years ago. Cool spot. We saw a big shark chasing bait-fish the first time we stopped there.

I scooped this up with my paddle. Such interesting creatures!

    PXL_20230124_165112811.jpg

I paddled to a giant oyster bar that comes up to about 2’ deep in an area about 8' deep at mid-tide. I'd hate to be an inexperienced boater in this area! Actually, a boater with enough experience to think they know what they're doing might be worse off! It came up from almost 9' to 2' very abruptly. Nowhere near enough time to slow down and trim up.

A dolphin was gobbling up Ladyfish and circling around me. I am just assuming it was Ladyfish because I couldn't cast without catching one over there.

    PXL_20230124_215825444.TS_exported_33178_1674615144561.jpg

I paddled past what was left of an old dock. This was pretty intact last year. I saw part of it in the mangroves on shore.

    PXL_20230124_225659774.jpg

Even though I didn't catch anything big, it was a cool day! I was convinced I was looking at red tide in the morning, but I'm not sure. The water seemed to have a red color, but it was clear (edit: you can kinda see it in the picture of the horseshoe crab). Either way, here's my mug wrecking another sunset picture.

    PXL_20230124_224120286.MP.jpg

Today, we had a visitor sunbathing on the dock. I knew there were iguanas here, but I've never seen one before. And, this was a good sized one! It was probably 3.5 to 4’ with the tail.

Only a few more days. It's been a helluva month!

Looking forward to seeing some of you fine folks in a few weeks. :)

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Skids are on and call me silly but the ride feels different, more feedback. I don't think it's the weight, the difference between Dan's (@Taco-Grinder) skid and the IronMan trio is only about 34#. Front settled less than 1/8". Best guess is the additional torsional and longitudinal stiffness. It's not a feeling through the steering wheel but a seat-of-the-pants kind of thing (in a good way).

May have sliders on the way by the end of the week...

Nice! I could see quality skids stiffening up the frame a bit. Looking forward to checking out the new toys!

I do know lol. Last year I got the fluid film.... And then it took 2 months to get off my ass and apply it :anonymous:

Definitely red tide algal bloom in that first photo.

    But also

    Wowza.

I was pretty certain, but I've never seen it firsthand. It was like I was paddling through red Kool aid for awhile. For some reason, I thought the water would be murky, also. At least I can blame that for my lack of success in the morning.

I meant to take more pictures, but the morning was actually pretty frustrating as I was struggling to even find water deep enough to get the kayak where I wanted to go, and eventually I turned around and headed east looking for deeper water.

    Question
Does anyone know if the rear interior of an FJ Cruiser has the same room as the 4Runner for sleeping?

I'm guessing it's not even close.

That is not an informed guess however.
